'Israeli navy opens fire on Palestinian fishing boats
Israeli gunboats have fired at Palestinian fishing boats off the coast of Gaza in the first fighting since an unilateral ceasefire was declared by Israel on Sunday. Palestinian officials said five people were injured by the Israeli gunfire. An Israeli military spokesman in Tel Aviv said the naval blockade of the Gaza Strip instituted by Israel was still in force. Israel completed its withdrawal from the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, but troops remain deployed on the outskirts of the Palestinian enclave. Thursday morning's incident comes after three weeks of intense fighting in the Gaza Strip between the Israeli military and Palestinian militants, which Gaza medics said killed 1,330 people, including 437 children. Another 5,450 people were wounded in the Israeli military offensive. Meanwhile the European Union has said it has received assurances from Israel that it will allow humanitarian aid through to Palestinians in Gaza.'
