Israel Versus Freedom of Speech

Dear Reader,

A few days ago I found out something disturbing: The Israeli government is actively working to dry up +972 Magazine’s funding because we’re not afraid to talk about the occupation bluntly — and because we do it in English.

Show Netanyahu that he can’t hide the occupation that easily. Make a donation to +972 Magazine today.

Last week, Israel sent a letter to the German government asking it to pressure two German foundations to pull their funding from +972 Magazine and several Israeli human rights groups.

Netanyahu will have to try much harder to stop us from exposing the occupation for what it is, how it affects people on the ground, and empowering those fighting to end injustices here. His attempt to undermine our work only makes us more determined.

And yet, I won’t lie to you — it’s an troubling sign of where things are headed politically that the Israeli government is coming after +972 like this.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that, right now, +972 Magazine needs your support more than ever. Will you give us your backing at this critical juncture? Make a donation here.

The support of these two German foundations comprises only a small portion of our budget. Last year, for the first time, readers like you became +972’s biggest source of funding. The more we can rely on our readers to keep us going the harder it will be for anyone to shut down +972 Magazine.

Thank you for your support at this important moment, and happy holidays to you and your loved ones.

Sincerely,

Michael Schaeffer Omer-Man
Editor-in-Chief, +972 Magazine
