Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s telephone conversation with US Secretary of State John Kerry
On October 15, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke over the phone with US Secretary of State John Kerry, on the initiative of the US side.
The discussion focused on the situation in Syria. The parties expressed satisfaction with the Russian and US defence departments’ efforts to coordinate security measures in the Syrian airspace in the context of antiterrorist operations. The Minister and the Secretary of State also agreed to continue their contacts on various aspects of the Syrian settlement in keeping with the Geneva Communique of June 30, 2012.
They also discussed the progress in the implementation of the Minsk Agreements on the political resolution of the Ukraine crisis, taking into account the results of the meeting of the Normandy Four leaders in Paris on October 2.
