Avoid Israel

Warning from Israelis and Jews: do not visit or immigrate to Israel

Hana Gan and her son
Marianne Azizi writes:
Can Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu be believed? He urges Jews around the world to immigrate to Israel (known as “making aliya“) where, he says, they will be safe forever, while simultaneously warning the world of a nuclear threat from Iran to Israel. He has encouraged particularly French and Danish Jews to move to the safety of a country under apparent siege from its neighbours.
These people have little understanding of the state of Israel. Many can’t speak the language and know nothing of the country’s fragmented systems.
For example, it is widely known inside Israel that the Welfare Ministry is doing all it can to interfere with families who have personal disputes. Children are quickly taken from families on false claims and many thousands of people have No Exit Orders on them. Figures show that at least 12,000 children are removed from fit parents every year.
The reason that so much is becoming known about the abusive way new immigrants are treated is due to articles published on the subject. More and more people coming forward and speaking out – dual citizens or foreign nationals who found themselves at the mercy of Israel’s brutal domestic laws.
Contrary to Netanyahu’s propaganda, many people have suffered beyond their imagination. The plight of Hana Gan, the trapped Canadian mother, is a message to all those considering leaving everything behind and moving to Israel. It is now almost a month since her children were snatched from her, and she is being treated like a criminal and unable to be with those children. The reason? Daring to leave Israel as a Canadian. She is being forced to integrate against her will.
This week, Ms Gan was interviewed and gave a stark warning to anyone considering moving to Israel: DON’T.
Ms Gan is not the only victim of the Israeli authorities. Here is another example, this one of an American tortured by Israel’s systems.
For years Netanyahu has been talking about a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, yet in a desperate attempt to win the recent election he called on Israeli Jews to come and vote due to “Arabs voting in droves”. Then he publicly declares there will be no Palestinian state under his watch!
So, is he to be believed by his own people? It seems not.
There are websites and Facebook pages springing up all over Israel. One such example is Yeled Vashem, which  translates as Children of the Holocaust; another Bereaved Parents of Living Children. They are in Hebrew and the owners of these sites are regularly have their freedom of speech violated.
How many people must speak out before even those who support Israel’s right to exist learn that existence is not enough? The two million Israelis living in poverty in a corrupt system headed by a megalomaniac prime minister have had enough.
Maybe it is good news that Netanyahu won another term. It is widely known on the centre-left of the Israeli political spectrum that things will not get better. The Palestinians know where they stand. The world knows how desperate Netanyahu is to keep power.
If the Jews and Israelis themselves feel such hopelessness, it’s time to listen.
A warning to all USA citizens: if you have any connection to Israel, be warned for you could be subject to an indefinite holiday in Israel. The travel page of the US Country Reports carries the following warning:-
Civil courts in Israel actively exercise their authority to bar certain individuals, including non-residents, from leaving the country until debts or other legal claims against them are resolved. Israel’s religious courts exercise jurisdiction over all citizens and residents of Israel in cases of marriage, divorce, child custody and child support. In some cases, US citizens who entered Israel as tourists have become defendants in divorce or custody cases filed by their spouses in Israeli religious courts. These US citizens have been detained in Israel for prolonged periods while the Israeli courts consider whether the individuals have sufficient ties to Israel to establish jurisdiction. Such visitors should be aware that they might be subject to involuntary and prolonged stays in Israel if a case is filed against them in a religious court, even if their marriage took place in the United States and regardless of whether their spouse is present in Israel.
You have been warned.
