Welcome back. We are joined today byProfessor Richard Wolff to discusseconomic fury, which is the new arm ofthe US war against Iran. So thank you forcoming back on the program. Glad to behere, Glenn. So the name given to thewar against Iran, Epic Fury, you know,
filled Trump with the great pride that hepicked this name. He mentioned it inquite a few speeches, but Scott Besanthas now... complemented it witheconomic fury, which is the economicwar or sanctions policies against Iran. And my first thought is it's been a bitconfusing because first the There's asanction on all Iranian oil.
Then they open up the Iranian oil to helpstabilize the markets. Then there's ablockade on Iranian ports. So theconsistency is not always clear. How doyou assess this new effort to strangleIran, which is this project EconomicFury?
Well... I know this may be a troublingthing to hear me say, but I really don'tknow anything else but to tell you. Alongwith others, I know I'm not the only one,we have stopped following the kind ofherky-jerky, on-again, off-againstatements because they are so often theway you just described them.
Inconsistent one with the other. Youdon't know whether the earlier one istrue and the second one an exaggerationor the second one is the correction of thefirst one. And before you can resolvethat, he has a third one and then itbecomes crazy. And so I don't know howto answer basically your question.
It's a perfectly good question, but I don'tknow how to answer it. It is inconsistent.Either you are going to take the stepsthat make oil supply more plentiful anddrive down the price, or you're not. Andanything you do, can be interrogated asto which way it, on balance, which way itgoes.
But if he does almost at the same timeallow there to be less oil and then at thesame breath more oil, well, you don'tknow. You don't know what's going tohappen. By the way, there are otherexamples too, not so well attended to.Mr. Besant is now going to have todecide,
Prof. Richard Wolff discusses how the Iran War undermines the petrodollar and the US-led international economic system that has sustained the US empire.
