On July 4th, the Transport and General Workers Union (TGWU) has passed a motion at its biennial conference in support of a customer boycott against Apartheid Israel. Following in the footsteps of other unions around the world who have taken up the boycott, the biggest general union in the UK, with over 800,000 members, also vowed to take part in the lobby of British parliament on November 2nd and demanding the UK government take a stronger stand against Israel. Tot mijn spijt kon ik op de website van de TGWU (www.tgwu.org.uk) geen enkele verwijzing vinden naar de oproep voor een klantenboycot, al hoop ik van harte dat die er komt (er staan al wel berichten van 5 juli, dus ik vind het een beetje vreemd).
Zelf heb ik op 2 juli (ter ondersteuning van de opmerking van Balkenende ("Landen die geweld gebruiken zijn geen gesprekspartner", van 30 juni) ook al opgeroepen tot een boycot van de VS en Israel...
