Gaza’s Gen Z Defies Israeli Genocide with Outstanding Tawjihi Results
Gaza (QNN)- Palestinians across the Gaza Strip celebrated the release of the secondary school certificate examination results, known locally as Tawjihi. This marks the third announcement of Tawjihi results since the start of the Israeli genocide and comes as Israel continues to attack the enclave despite the US-backed ceasefire.
The Minister of Education and Higher Education Amjad Barham said more than 106,000 students in the Gaza Strip have taken the Tawjihi exams over the past three years, including 36,900 this year. According to the minister, more than 1,100 students who were expected to sit for this year’s exams were killed during the Israeli genocide.

Barham said around 89,000 students took the examinations this year across the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, in addition to more than 2,000 students who sat for the exams in 46 countries worldwide.
The minister also said three Tawjihi students were killed in the occupied West Bank this year, while 67 students were unable to take the exams because they are being held in Israeli prisons. He expressed hope for their release.
Barham stressed that Gaza students have now taken the Tawjihi exams for a third consecutive year under exceptional conditions, including in tents and amid the rubble of destroyed houses.
Students across Gaza achieved remarkable academic results despite enduring two years of Israeli genocide marked by immense pressure, sleepless nights, continuous bombardment, and a suffocating aid blockade.

The exams were held entirely online to overcome infrastructure challenges following the destruction of 27 schools.
Despite the fragile ceasefire, families gathered together, almost all of them in tents and ruined homes, their eyes fixed on phone screens, hearts pounding, each hoping to be the first to access the ministry’s website and share the news with a jubilant cry. After two years of destruction and despair, joyful tears and celebrations finally returned.
“All praise be to Allah. After two years of sadness and loss, Thuraia has brought joy back to our hearts,” Lina Hneif, a Palestinian mother, told Quds News Network while celebrating the success of her daughter.
Ahmed Musleh sat in his living room in the eastern part of the central Gaza Strip near the so-called ‘yellow line’, the line that separates the Israeli forces from Palestinian areas, with his eyes glued to his mobile phone. He was waiting to receive the results of his final school year examinations. He was surrounded by family members who eagerly refreshed their phones and laptops to read out the outcomes.
As they trickled in, Ahmed’s results appeared. He scored 80 percent, prompting loud cheers and applause from his relatives.
“We come here to celebrate your success, and sing for you,” they chanted a well-known song played in the Tawjihi results in Palestine.
The results come amid a spike in Israeli attacks in the war-torn Strip despite the ceasefire which took effect in October.
Over 1,180 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip since the US-backed ceasefire came into effect.
The Ministry said the overall death toll from Israel’s war on Gaza has also surpassed 73,300.
Israel has violated the ceasefire more than 3,690 times, according to the Gaza Government Media Office.
Apartment buildings, markets, vehicles, and cafés have continued to come under attack. In some cases, families received displacement orders only minutes before their homes were bombed, while many others received no warning at all.
United Nations human rights chief Volker Turk condemned Israel’s recent attacks in the Gaza Strip, saying that “the unrelenting pattern of killings” reflects Israel’s “sweeping impunity”.
“Palestinians are still being killed and injured in what is left of their homes, shelters and tents of displaced families, on the streets, in vehicles, at a medical facility and a classroom,” Turk said.
“We mourn as Gaza reaches yet another tragic milestone … Thousands more people who were told the worst was over are still burying their loved ones,” said Fikr Shalltoot, Gaza director at Medical Aid for Palestinians.
This week, Doctors Without Borders, known as MSF, said it has been “over 1,000 days since Israel’s genocide in Gaza began, and the collective punishment of Palestinians continues to this day. Amidst a so-called ceasefire, the world has normalised seeing Palestinians being maimed and killed daily in their tents, in hospitals, and on the street.”
It added, “This is not a ceasefire.”
