UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday demanded an urgent humanitarian ceasefire as he described Gaza becoming a "graveyard for children" while speaking to reporters at the UN headquarters.
The UN chief also used his speech to demand Hamas to return Israeli hostages and paid tribute to 88 UN employees killed by Israel in Gaza.
Separately, at least 150 health workers have been killed in Gaza – 16 while on duty – and 18 emergency-service workers for Gaza’s civil defence, according to the UN. More than 100 health facilities have been damaged.
