De Israelische organisatie Zochrot bericht:
'Thursday: Bridging memory between Kerem Ben-Zimra to al-Ras al-AhmarZochrot invites the public to a presentation of a project that links an Israeli village with a Palestinian village that existed there until 1948's Nakba.
Gathered testimonies from the refugee camp Ein al-Hilwa in Lebanon, together with people sized posters of the al-Ras al-Ahmar refugees, were posted at Kerem Ben-Zimra settlement and created a profound discussion raising fundamental questions concerning the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The picture on the right above presents Ahmad kasem al-Shaib, a refugee from al-Ras al-Ahmar, who was born in 1929 and residents now at Ein al-Hilwa refugee camp.
The picture on the left above was taken at Kerem Ben-Zimra village. it shows the real sized poster (right above), posted near a house, one of the remains of the Palestinian village that existed there, that now belongs to the village territory.
Displaying the poster aroused a discussion with the residents, regarding the refugees and the right of return. One of them remembered how as a child, he used to roam around that house, whom his grandmother used to resident at.
Next week, we will post 5 people sized posters in addition to video testimonies of the refugees presented in those posters.
During the evening at Zochrot we will present the posters together with the video testimonies and the reactions they aroused both at Kerem Ben-Zimra and in Lebanon amidst the refugees.Thursday, November 15, 2007, 8 pmZochrot Learning Center61 Ibn Gvirol St. (corner of 13 Maneh St.)Tel Aviv Tel. 03-695-3155'
