De AIVD-Waarheden van Erik Akerboom 6

Erik Akerboom, Marshall McLuhan’s prophecy that ‘the successor to politics will be propaganda’ has happened. Raw propaganda is now the rule in Western democracies, especially the U.S. and Britain.

On matters of war and peace, ministerial deceit is reported as news. Inconvenient facts are censored, demons are nurtured. The model is corporate spin, the currency of the age,

aldus John Pilger, één van ’s werelds meest geprezen onderzoeksjournalisten, op donderdag 17 februari 2022, ‘more than a century since Edward Bernays, the father of spin, invented ‘public relations’ as a cover for war propaganda. What is new is the virtual elimination of dissent in the mainstream.’ Er is geen ruimte meer voor ‘independent journalists and whistle blowers, the honest mavericks to whom media organizations once gave space, often with pride. The space has been abolished.’ The war hysteria that has rolled in like a tidal wave in recent weeks and months is the most striking example. Known by its jargon, “shaping the narrative,” much if not most of it is pure propaganda.’

I was the CIA director, we lied, we cheated, we stole. We had entire training courses. It reminds you of the glory of the American experiment

‘oligarchy’ in which ‘unlimited political bribery” has created ‘a complete subversion of our political system as a payoff to major contributors.’ Both Democrats and Republicans, Carter said, ‘look upon this unlimited money as a great benefit to themselves.’

those countries that used to be exceptional and used to be unique, have to get used to the fact that they have a rival.

Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger made prudent remarks recently when he said the United States is no longer a uni-power and that it must recognize the reality of China as an equal rival.

The furor over a new law passed by the US this week regarding Hong Kong and undermining Beijing’s authority underlines Kissinger’s warning.

If the US cannot find some modus vivendi with China, then the outcome could be a catastrophic conflict worst than any previous world war, he admonished.

Speaking publicly in New York on November 14, the veteran diplomat urged the US and China to resolve their ongoing economic tensions cooperatively and mutually, adding: ‘It is no longer possible to think that one side can dominate the other.’

In other words, he is negating (ontkent. svh) the erroneous consensus held in Washington which asserts that the US is somehow ‘exceptional,’ a ‘uni-power’ and the ‘indispensable nation.’ This consensus has grown since the early 1990s after the collapse of the Soviet Union, when the US viewed itself as the sole super-power. That morphed into a more virulent ideology of ‘full-spectrum dominance.’ Thence, the past three decades of unrelenting US criminal wars and regime-change operations across the planet, throwing the whole world into chaos.

Kissinger’s frank assessment is a breath of fresh air amid the stale and impossibly arrogant self-regard held by too many American politicians who view their nation as an unparalleled power which brooks no other…

Aptly, Kissinger’s caution about the danger of conflict was reiterated separately by veteran journalist John Pilger, who warned in an exclusive interview for Strategic Culture Foundation this week that, presumed ‘American exceptionalism is driving the world to war.’

Vier jaar eerder, zomer 2015 waarschuwde Kissinger dat onder de regering Obama/Biden ‘breaking Russia has become an objective; the long-range purpose should be to integrate it.’ Kissinger trachtte de Amerikaanse elite ervan te overtuigen dat ‘If we treat Russia seriously as a great people, we need at an early stage to determine whether their concerns can be reconciled with our necessities.’

Associate Professor at the USC Gould School of Law. An author and human rights lawyer, he writes in both English and French about legal, political, and social issues with a focus on American exceptionalism and criminal justice. He has been interviewed on radio and television about how American society compares to France, Canada, and other countries.

Jouet grew up in Paris and moved to the United States for university. He was a history major at Rice University before studying public policy at NYU and law at Northwestern. He subsequently worked as a public defender in Manhattan. After living 11 years in America, he returned to Europe to practice international criminal law at a tribunal in The Hague, Netherlands.

He joined the McGill University Faculty of Law in 2019 as Assistant Professor, after teaching at Stanford Law School. In 2022, he became Associate Professor at the University of Southern California's Gould School of Law.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mugambi_Jouet

what is ‘American exceptionalism?’ The concept can actually refer to two distinct ideas. The chauvinistic definition of exceptionalism has become common in the rhetoric of politicians. It equates American exceptionalism with American superiority. In this view, ‘exceptional’ means ‘better’ or ‘outstanding.’ This idea is often tied to the notion that America is fulfilling a special destiny chosen by God…

Notwithstanding the conflation of ‘American exceptionalism’ with chauvinism, the 2012 election raised fundamental questions about the nation's unique character. America's economic dominance is fading. It has additionally become a ‘winner-takes-all’ economy where wealth inequality is acute by Western standards. The United States could eventually lose its status as the world's only superpower due to the rise of China. However, America is currently unable to pass reforms needed to make great strides into the future, modernize its social and economic model, and improve the lives of its citizens.

Waarom?
