If A Kid’s Fight Club is Child Abuse, What Is Bombing Children?

If A Kid’s Fight Club is Child Abuse, What Is Bombing Children?
Paul Craig Roberts
Fighting and violence are endemic in American culture of today, but children are only supposed to experience it vicariously by playing video games and watching movies. In my day there were organized boxing and wrestling matches. Today there are more brutal fight encounters including between women that are part of sanctioned fight matches shown on TV.
I had my first fight prior to kindergarden, and fights continued all the way through 12th grade.
No more. The two teachers in the video below, obviously not clued in to the tone of our time, allowed young kids to bash one other with what looks like foam hand covers. It doesn’t seem like more than feelings get hurt, but the outcome is a child abuse investigation, fired teachers, and a mom seeking money.
How do we fit together the over-protection of children with the violent society with which they will have to contend? As adults, if soldiers in Washington’s military, they will have to kill children in Yemen or the Iraq, Syria, Libya of their time, or as taxpayers finance the killing of children by the US military and Israel’s murder of Palestinian children.
There is a gigantic disconnect here.
Something is wrong with a society that can get so upset over this film, but not over the countless dead bodies of children as a consequence of Washington-sponsored aggression in the Middle East.
