Bert Lanting: 'Samenzweringstheorieën.'
De anti-Soroscampagne heeft soms een duidelijk antisemitische ondertoon, net als bij de samenzweringstheorieën die vroeger circuleerden over de macht van de Rothschild-familie. De Amerikaanse comédienne Roseanna Barr, inmiddels ontslagen bij ABC-televisie, gaf er een helemaal bizarre draai aan. Zij verspreidde het volstrekt uit de lucht gegrepen gerucht dat Soros tijdens de oorlog twee joden had aangegeven bij de Duitsers en hun bezittingen had ingepikt. Die boodschap werd zelfs door Trumps zoon Donald jr. geretweet,
aldus beweerde Volkskrant-journalist Bert Lanting in zijn dagblad van 29 oktober 2018.
Op welke 'samenzweringstheorieën' over 'de macht' van 'de Rothschild-familie' de mainstream-journalist Lanting doelt, vertelt hij niet, maar wel is ondermeer het volgende bekend:

Voor alle duidelijkheid: Eretz Israel, is het Groot Israel, dus inclusief onder andere het gebied dat de Verenigde Naties in 1947 voor de Palestijnse bevolking reserveerde. Bovendien is algemeen bekend dat de Rothschild's zowel oorlogen als het Britse kolonialisme financierden en dat 'The family funded Cecil Rhodes in the creation of the African colony of Rhodesia,' bloedbaden die de toch al rijke familie astronomisch hoge winsten opleverden. De rechtse Britse historicus Niall Ferguson schreef over de Rothschild's:

Dat de Rothschild's risico's liepen is betrekkelijk, aangezien deze familie door de geschiedenis heen almaar rijker is geworden. Zo liet George Soros op Black Wednesday, 16 september 1992, de waarde van de Britse munteenheid ineenstorten, waardoor de Britse bevolking op één dag 3,4 miljard pond verloor, en Soros, dankzij een doortrapte constructie, op diezelfde dag meer dan één miljard pond rijker werd. Het is een ander voorbeeld van de immorele wijze waarop Soros zowel tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog als daarna opereerde en nog steeds te werk gaat. Tijdens een berucht interview in 1995 stelde de journalist Charlie Rose de vraag ‘Strobe Talbot, the Deputy Secretary of State, the principal architect of our policy towards Russia listens to you?’ Soros antwoordde:
He does. I do now have access, we actually work together. The country where I am most engaged and we are really working together is Ukraine.
De steun aan zijn Open Society-filosofie spoort naadloos met zijn financiële machinaties. Wat dit betreft zou men ook van Soros kunnen zeggen dat hij risico's neemt, ware het niet dat hij, net als de Rothschild's, de militaire overmacht van het Westen aan zijn kant heeft.
Interessant in dit verband is dat George Soros met de regelmaat van de klok de gelegenheid krijgt om zijn vermeende ‘philosophical ideals’ uiteen te zetten in The New York Review of Books, het tijdschrift van de mainstream-liberals waarvan Ian Buruma een jaar lang hoofdredacteur was tot hij gedwongen werd op te stappen. Buruma is van oordeel dat ‘Soros might be described as the personification of the West.’ Met andere woorden: ook voor Ian Buruma, als woordvoerder de ‘urban elites,’ is een volstrekt immorele, rovende en speculerende opportunist, die geen ‘schuldgevoel’ kent, ‘de personificatie van het Westen,’ oftewel ‘een liberaal toegewijd aan’ datgene wat het establishment als ‘de open samenleving’ ziet. Om het nog absurder te stellen: een vermeende jood die van joodse slachtoffers stal is in deze optiek, niet alleen de
personification of “the West” […] a liberal dedicated to […] 'the open society,’
maar tegelijkertijd ook nog eens het slachtoffer van ‘nativists and anti-Semites’ die Soros zien als ‘rich, cosmopolitan, Jewish, and a liberal.’
De Lanting's en Buruma's van de 'vrije pers' gedragen zich als propagandisten voor een moreel failliet systeem. Ook zij zijn schaamteloos, alleen is het journaille véél goedkoper.
