Common Dreams

Breaking News & Views for the Progressive Community
Unbelievable.
Even those of us who have been paying attention are staggered by the just leaked revelations of the massive data collection by the US National Security Administration.
The Bush/Obama administrations have been building a dossier on you - on all of us. But don't worry, they say - they are only trampling on the US Constitution "to keep you safe from the terrorists."
They have all your emails. All your credit card transactions. All your Google searches. All the websites you visit. All your phone calls. All your text messages. All your online activity.
If we don't fight back hard - and soon, the internet as we know it will die.
We can't let that happen.
We believe the internet is the only remaining hope for the people of the world to come together to stand up to the globalized corporate and fascist forces that are strangling our futures. The internet must be a global "commons" - not controlled or mined by any country or corporation.
Common Dreams is committed to that fight.
We stand with the heroic whistleblowers who put themselves at great risk to expose the truth.
We stand with the internet freedom activists fighting for an open, public internet.
And we stand with the journalists and writers who dare to speak truth to power in this climate of fear and retribution.
Common Dreams needs you to stand with us as we move forward.
Our mid-year fundraising drive is critical to our survival. We must raise $50,000 to keep going. Can we count on you?
