Militants using ‘Israeli weapons’

The use of Israeli-made light arms by militants in Pakistan against security forces in Waziristan region of the tribal areas bordering Afghanistan has raised several questions amongst many, news reports revealed yesterday. The Nation daily reported quoting unnamed reliable sources that militants are using Israeli-made light arms including “Uzi gun” and “Rapid-fire pistol” against security forces in North Waziristan as the operation Rah-i-Rast reaches its final stage against the Taliban and Al Qaeda. Availability of sophisticated Israeli weapons within the militant’s ranks and their use against security forces has raised several eyebrows in Islamabad. “Not only the militants are in possession of such type of deadly weapons, they are easily accessible by the common people of Pakistan,” an official said.
