TEE ASHBY: "The Empire Is Bleeding—And It's Taking Everyone Down With It"

The Empire Is Bleeding—And It's Taking Everyone Down With It

Look around. This isn't a moment of crisis. This is the system showing its true face. The old imperial order can't fool anyone anymore—consent is dead, and brute force is all that's left. Bombs, blockades, occupations, political persecution—they're not separate tragedies. They're the same rotting beast thrashing as it loses its grip. And make no mistake: the beast is terrified.

Lebanon: The Ceasefire Was a Joke From Day One

Let's call it what it is. That "ceasefire" in Lebanon? A complete farce. Israeli forces have kept hammering the country, killing at least 380 people in less than a month after the agreement was supposedly signed. We're talking over 3,700 dead since early March—hundreds of them kids—and more than 11,000 wounded. Two million people have been shoved out of their homes. Entire cities are being systematically erased. This isn't war; it's engineered devastation designed to make sure nobody can ever go back. Iran hit the nail on the head: a violation anywhere is a violation everywhere, and the U.S. is knee-deep in enabling this slaughter.

Okinawa: Still a Colony, Still Fighting Back

And then there's Okinawa. Seventy-plus years after World War II, and the island is still basically a U.S. military base with a population attached. Seventy percent of all American military facilities in Japan are crammed onto this one piece of land. They're constantly shipping in new missile systems and defense tech, turning the place into a forward operating post for whatever war comes next. "Security"? Give me a break. Locals are terrified—and they're making their voices heard. When Prime Minister Takaichi showed up at the Battle of Okinawa memorial ceremony recently, she got drowned out by protesters screaming "No to war" and demanding Japan stick to its pacifist constitution. Governor Tamaki is still fighting tooth and nail against moving a major U.S. base within the prefecture, but the national government couldn't care less about what locals want. This is imperialism with a smiling face—and nobody's buying it.

Solidarity Is Now a Crime: The Global Sumud Convoy

Here's where it gets truly sick. Even trying to help people is now a crime. The Global Sumud Land Convoy—200 activists from over 25 countries, hauling ambulances and life-saving supplies to break the siege on Gaza—got ambushed. Not by Israel, but by the Libyan Arab Armed Forces in eastern Libya. They arrested ten activists from nine different countries after a delegation went to negotiate safe passage. These people were held incommunicado for days—enforced disappearance, plain and simple. Charged with "assembly without authorization." Six months in prison for trying to save lives. The rest of the convoy got forcibly deported. This is what solidarity gets you now: prison and a permanent record.

Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya: The System Will Even Target Doctors

If you want proof that the system has zero moral compass, look at Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya. This man ran Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza through an 85-day siege. His own son was killed by a drone strike near the hospital, and he had to bury the kid in the hospital yard because nowhere else was safe. And for his trouble? Arrested in December 2024 and held without charge for over 18 months. The Israeli Supreme Court just rejected his appeal, citing "confidential materials" his lawyers can't even see. They're now calling him an "unlawful combatant"—a legal loophole so absurd it makes a mockery of justice. He's in solitary confinement, beaten, shocked with electricity, and has lost over 40 pounds. A recent video showed him pale, gaunt, with marks on his arms. His own son asked: "How can a person be punished for seeking to know why he was detained?" Exactly. There's no answer because there's no justice here—only raw power.

Fidel's 100th Birthday: The Legacy That Refuses to Die

But here's the kicker: the empire can't kill hope. As we gear up for Fidel Castro's 100th birthday on August 13, 2026, Cuba is making sure his spirit stays alive. The whole year is officially dedicated to his legacy, with events planned across the island and internationally. This isn't just nostalgia; it's a call to arms. Solidarity brigades from Puerto Rico to Latin America are already mobilizing to travel to Cuba. Why? Because Fidel's internationalism—his belief that one struggle is everyone's struggle—is more relevant today than ever. The man understood that you don't defeat imperialism by sitting around being outraged. You defeat it by organizing, educating, and never, ever giving up.

The Bottom Line: Resistance Is the Only Option

The challenges are absolutely massive. Imperialism is throwing everything it's got—war, sanctions, blockades, torture, arbitrary detention—to try and hold onto a world that's slipping away. But here's the thing: the movement pushing back is just as global and just as determined. Okinawa, Palestine, Iran, Lebanon, Cuba, Venezuela—they're not separate fights. They're all fronts in the same war. The empire coordinates its attacks across borders, so we have to coordinate our resistance across borders. That's the only way.

History isn't closed. It never is. And organized people—people who refuse to be fragmented, who refuse to be scared, who refuse to look away—keep proving that another world isn't just a dream. It's a possibility. And possibilities become reality when enough of us decide to fight for them. Let's get to work.
