The European Union Has Become the Very Threat to Liberty It Was Created to Oppose
Michael von der Schulenberg’s testimony eviscerates the European Union’s claim to lawful governance. In one devastating sequence, the German MEP lays bare both the mechanism and the human cost:
“Somebody who is sanctioned becomes basically an outlaw. I mean, we are going back to the Middle Ages… They don’t have bank accounts anymore. They can’t work… they have no income… They cannot travel… and it’s virtually impossible for them to take a legal challenge.
We shouldn’t forget what happens here really is a complete denial of the rule of law, and here the council is the lawmaker and the judge at the same time and… any decisions which are taken by the council on foreign relations… cannot be challenged in the European Court of Justice. So I mean we have a situation where… It’s really like… Henry VIII decides what happens to his wives…”
Von der Schulenberg exposes a system where “a handful of people” act in secret, issuing verdicts that “cannot be challenged.” This isn’t justice; it’s a political purge, manufacturing modern “outlaws”—stripped of bank accounts, income, and travel rights—for the “completely arbitrary” crime of dissent.
The purpose is naked intimidation. The sanctions, he states, “should intimidate people who say it differently… this is a warning against all of us.” The hypocrisy is staggering: the EU awards prizes to journalists jailed abroad while it “intimidate[s]” its own citizens for “the opinion they have.” His own Parliament is complicit, a “so pro-war” body where “virtually nobody” objects to what he calls an “attack on our own democracy.”
Von der Schulenberg strips away the pretense. With no legal definition for the alleged crimes, the charges are “completely arbitrary.” The EU framework is weaponized precisely because “these people didn’t do anything illegal” under national law. The project that promised a “common home” now maintains a “registry of people without right indefinitely.”
His final judgment is damning. This “war rhetoric” and “self-righteousness,” he warns, means the elite is “slowly committing a suicide,” destroying the union from within. The verdict, delivered from inside the chamber, is conclusive: the European Union has become the very threat to liberty it was created to oppose.

1 opmerking:
