Dmitry Shapiro, 34, a reservist and father of two, died by suicide after returning from months of fighting in Gaza.

His family says he came home deeply traumatized and struggled with depression.

A young man with a beard wearing a tactical vest and camouflage pants sits smiling on the edge of a white van in a desert area with sparse trees. A heavy machine gun is mounted on a pole beside the vehicle with Hebrew text on a sign attached to it. Military pouches and gear are visible on his vest and the vehicle door.
