The stats this year aren’t pretty and the final numbers aren’t even in:
- 15 weather and climate disasters in the U.S. (through September) costing $1 billion or more
- Total damages — excluding hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria, whose costs are still being calculated — about $25 billion
- One of the worst wildfire years in California history — fueled by high temperatures and dry conditions
