Relief Director Killed in Vehicle Strike
An Israeli strike on a vehicle south of Deir al-Balah killed a Palestinian relief official and wounded several others on Sunday, as attacks continued across the Gaza Strip.
Quds News Network identified the man killed as Saqr al-Qaisi, director of the Turkish relief organization Deniz Finari, citing local sources.
The network reported that 10 Palestinians were injured in the vehicle strike. Al Mayadeen’s correspondent reported an earlier toll of one killed and eight wounded, including a child, following an Israeli drone attack on a car near Al-Hawouz, south of Deir al-Balah.
Elsewhere, a drone strike near the Engineers Syndicate headquarters northwest of Gaza City injured several Palestinians, Quds News Network reported.
Israeli helicopters opened fire toward eastern Gaza City alongside demolition operations, while occupation forces fired illumination flares east of Jabaliya refugee camp.
In central Gaza, Israeli artillery shelled areas east of Al-Maghazi refugee camp. Military vehicles also opened heavy fire east of Hamad City, north of Khan Yunis.
Israeli forces fired at displaced people’s tents in the Bir 19 area of Khan Yunis, according to Quds News Network, as bombardment and demolitions continued in other parts of the territory.
Gaza’s Health Ministry announced Saturday that Israeli attacks since the October 11, 2025 ceasefire had killed 1,445 Palestinians and injured 5,072. Another 835 bodies had been recovered during that period.
The ministry put the cumulative toll of Israel’s genocide in Gaza at 74,228 Palestinians killed and 175,188 injured, Al Mayadeen reported.
Forty-Three Gaza Prisoners Held Beyond Their Sentences
Separately, the Prisoners’ Media Office said Israeli authorities continue to detain 43 Palestinians from Gaza despite the expiration of their sentences.
Quds News Network reported that the office described deteriorating physical and psychological conditions among the prisoners, alongside deprivation of contact with their families.
Among the cases documented was Ibrahim al-Shaer, detained since 2015, who completed a 10-year sentence but remains imprisoned.
The office said his family has no information about his current circumstances and fears for his life following substantial weight loss.
Mahmoud Ahmed, who was scheduled for release in September 2025, was instead transferred to administrative detention. His detention has been renewed three consecutive times inside Ramon prison, according to the office.
Muhammad al-Qudra remains in Nafha prison despite completing an 11-year sentence two years ago. The office said his weight had fallen from 75 to 57 kilograms.
During the war, al-Qudra lost his daughter and several other family members.
Ahmed Abu al-Nour is also held in Nafha. He completed a two-year sentence more than two years ago but remains detained, according to the office, which said he had lost 48 kilograms and suffers from chronic diseases.
Families Left Without Information
The Prisoners’ Media Office also documented the case of Youssef Qarmout, whose five-year sentence expired in June 2024.
He remains detained and forcibly disappeared, according to the office. It said 36 members of his family had been lost and that the family does not know the fate of his son, Muhammad Yassin.
The documented cases describe prisoners remaining in custody after their scheduled release dates while their families face deaths, displacement and uncertainty in Gaza.
For some relatives, the lack of contact has also prevented them from obtaining information about prisoners’ health and detention conditions.
The office condemned the continued imprisonment of Palestinians after their sentences expire, including the replacement of completed sentences with other detention procedures.
It said these practices violate international humanitarian law and international conventions concerning detainees’ rights, Quds News Network reported.
