Here’s The Washington Post’s Letter Responding to Truthdig’s Demand for a Retraction

On Friday, Dec. 2, Truthdig’s legal counsel sent a letter to The Washington Post in reference to the Post’s article, “Russian propaganda effort helped spread ‘fake news’ during election, experts say,” published on Nov. 24. After that story ran in the Post, we published this story on Truthdig.


The letter we sent was a retraction demand. We’re required to send the publisher a written demand for a retraction before we take any legal action (see: California Civil Code Section 48a). In order for our own letter to remain privileged, we can’t publish it.



We can publish the response letter we received from the Post’s counsel on Wednesday, the day by which we had asked to hear back from them. That letter is posted below:
