Ezra Nawi

friend of ezra
Four years ago, you signed a petition to support Israeli human rights activist Ezra Nawi when he was sentenced to one month in Israeli prison after he tried to stop a military bulldozer from destroying the homes of Palestinian Bedouins in South Hebron.

Although Ezra was forced to serve his sentence, your signature sent a message of support to him and told the Israeli consulate that you refused to be silent in the face of the Israeli government's crackdown on human rights defenders.

In the four years since his release, Ezra has continued his work to support Palestinians' resistance to Israeli dispossession. I am writing you now, because we need your support to sustain his indispensable work

Ezra's 8-year-old pickup embodies the story of Palestinian resistance in the south West Bank. In the three years that Ezra has owned it, the car has covered 270,000 km on rough terrain. It has traveled to every Palestinian village and grazing ground south of Bethlehem. The truck has transported young children who were afraid to walk to school because settlers attacked them the day before. It has escorted Palestinian shepherds, who were terrorized by the settler hill youth. And it has carried blankets and warm clothes for scores of Palestinians whose homes had been demolished.

Ezra needs a new truck to continue his work in South Mount Hebron

Israeli activist and blogger, Moriel Rothman, wrote that Ezra's truck "... is possibly the single most important material resource for those seeking to bring justice and break the cruelty of occupation in South Hebron through committed nonviolence, human compassion, direct action and access to information. "

Please join over 100 supporters who have already contributed to ensure that Ezra's solidarity work in the South Hebron Hills can continue. Help us reach our goal of $25,000 by forwarding this call to five friends.

In solidarity,
