Dear stan, Seven years ago, in the summer of 2014, the Israeli military launched a massive military assault on the Gaza Strip called Operation Protective Edge. Defense for Children International - Palestine documented 535 Palestinian children killed in attacks by Israeli forces. Since then, DCIP has acted as a legal representative for families of child victims killed during OPE and advocated for an investigation by the International Criminal Court. On March 3, 2021, the ICC announced it was proceeding with an investigation into war crimes committed in the Occupied Palestinian Territory since 2014—the beginning stages of accountability for Palestinian child victims. Please join DCIP's advocacy team for a webinar on August 24, 2021 at 12 p.m. ET to learn what happened during OPE, how DCIP documented Palestinian child injuries and fatalities, how the International Criminal Court investigation works, and what it means for Palestinian child victims and their families. Sign up for the webinar to learn more about OPE and how the ICC investigation can get accountability for Palestinian children »
The international legal system is complex, but it's an important tool we can use to hold Israeli forces accountable for killing and injuring Palestinian children with impunity. I hope to see you on August 24. In solidarity, Brad Parker Senior Adviser, Policy and Advocacy Defense for Children International - Palestine |
