In the midst of Trump's outrageous and delusional behavior, we cannot lose focus on a national and global economy in which the very rich get richer, while the poor get poorer. Today, the top 1% of the world's population owns more wealth than the bottom 99%, and eight multi-billionaires own as much wealth as the bottom 50% of the world — 3.7 billion people. Let us not forget what Nelson Mandela stated: 'Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice. Like slavery and apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings.'
