Wat Mr Stephan van Baarle zegt is volledig in verhouding met het internationaal recht. In zijn 2004 Advies heeft het International Court of Justice (ICJ) (Internationale Gerechshof) in Den Haag bevestigd dat alle staten, en dus niet alleen Israël de volgende verplichtingen heeft, inclusief Nederland , in verband met de “illegale situatie”:
•Geen steun verlenen aan schendingen van internationale-recht, mensenrechten en het Palestijnse recht op zelf-beschikking;
•Niet erkennen van deze schendingen;
Met andere woorden, Nederland is verplicht, volgens o.a. het VN Handvest, Verdrag van Genève en Genocide Verdrag, om te zorgen dat Israël voldoet aan internationaal recht, door alle diplomatieke kanalen.
Het meest recente uitspraak en bevelen van het Internationale Gerechtshof om Israël o.a. meteen te stoppen met zijn aanvallen op Rafah hoort hier ook bij.

In its 2004 Opinion, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) (International Court of Justice) in The Hague confirmed that all states, not just Israel, have the following obligations, including the Netherlands , in relation to the ‘illegal situation’:
-Do not support violations of international law, human rights and the Palestinian right to self-determination;
-Not to acknowledge these violations;
In other words, the Netherlands is obliged, according to the UN Charter, Geneva Convention and Genocide Convention, among others, to ensure that Israel complies with international law, through all diplomatic channels.
The latest ruling and orders by the International Court of Justice to, among other things, immediately stop Israel's attacks on Rafah is also part of this.
