Remember: US dropped 270 million bombs on Laos

OTD in 1954, Laos gained independence from France. To try to stop the communist Pathet Lao from coming to power, the US dropped 270 million bombs on Laos, more than all the bombs dropped in WW2. By 1975, 10% of the population had been killed. Twice as many were wounded.
