And Now For Something Enjoyable

Trophy hunter eaten alive by brother of lion he shot for an Instagram post

The reported story has gone viral on Twitter, stirring debate across the world

As John Lennon once said, instant karma is going to get you. That is certainly the case with a story coming out of South Africa, in which a trophy hunter of lions was reportedly found dead after having been eaten by a pride that he had been hunting.

That pride included the brother of one of the great cats he had posed next to in one of his viral Instagram posts after having hunted the animal. The hunter is well known for his Instagram account, in which he often shares photos and videos of his hunts, particularly of lions.

“The man was heard screaming from a distance by people outside near the South African city of Phalaborwa,” said the River City Post.

The lions had reportedly devoured most of the man before his body was discovered, left identifiable as his head was untouched.

Those who had seen that he was still streaming on Instagram Live identified the man, according to the report.

The story quickly went viral on social media, with a lot of debate over whether this is something that could be reveled about.

“In what world would an animal’s life be worth as much as a person’s?” asked one Twitter User.

“He was killing them for no reason so I’m on the animal’s side on this,” replied former UFC fighter Jake Shields.

Steve Mellow, another Twitter user, stated that he paid $70-80,000 in order to hunt the lion, who was likely getting old or was going to die naturally, which is why it was allowed by the local tribe. Mellow also speculated that the lion had been killing local pride cubs thereby threatening the species, stirring the debate further.

“Money spent to kill this lion directly goes to the local village that authorized this legal kill and the meat is left for the village to harvest and feed families,” Mellow continued.

“Poachers on the other hand is a different story and poachers to post pictures of themselves illegally killing,” he concluded.

Another twitter user shared a video of the hunter in question apparently after killing the lion whose family allegedly attacked him.

As this is graphic, viewer discretion is advised.
