Rich Hall: It is patently obvious that the American middle class is shrinking down the economic ladder. 

That is what the middle class is, the the happy mediocracy.

90 percent of the Americans claim to be middle class, in other words: marginally comfortable, and it is those people who are seeing those margins tighten everyday.
