These are the photographs that show the grim reality for thousands of children in Bangladesh who are forced to work crippling hours stitching labels into our jeans.  Despite continued campaigns and intermittent outrage, a photographer has revealed both the shocking lack of safety controls inside some of Bangladesh's unregulated clothes 'factories' as well as the grueling routines of the children that work there.  Informal factories' are companies not officially registered in Bangladesh producing garments for the local and sometimes the Indian market.

The Nusra Front, an Al-Qaeda ally in Syria, released the three-minute clip made up of footage taken from GoPro cameras attached to a tank and a drone as they attacked a town in Aleppo. The effect is a video that has chilling echoes of first-person shooter video games like Call of Duty.

Previously dubbed 'Kingdom Tower', the 170-storey building is to rise more than a kilometre (3,280 feet), surpassing Dubai's Burj Khalifa as the world's highest building. The Burj Khalifa, stands at 2,716 feet. New York City's Freedom Tower, currently the fifth tallest in the world, is dwarf-like at 1,792 feet. Kingdom Holding Co, chaired by billionaire Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, said its affiliate Jeddah Economic Company had reached a more than $2 billion financing deal with Saudi Arabia's Alinma Investment to finish the Jeddah Tower in the Red Sea city , and boasted they were 'on the verge of building a floor every four days.

Ik kocht stof op de Dappermarkt. Een b-merk van Vlisco, in Enschede bedrukt, six yards 30 euro.
Ik ging naar de Surinaamse kleermaker in de buurt. Hij maakte er 2 overhemden uit met 2 borstzakjes en een boord naar wens (1 oosters, 1 westers). Per overhemd hebben ze mij 40 euro gekost. A perfect fit want maatwerk, de Surinaamse kleermaker is inmiddels failliet. Niemand anders deed wat kon...

Wat in elk geval als 'n paal boven water staat is dat door de zeespiegelstijging Bangla Desh eerder onder water zal staan dan Nederland, 3 keer raden waar meer mensen wonen. 'Er was een humanitaire ramp voor nodig om de wereld in beweging te krijgen... Niemand deed wat kon...'
