Biden made an appeal to the American people about support for Ukraine and Israel. In particular, he called aid to these countries a “smart investment” that will pay dividends for future generations.
Maria Zakharova responded to his statement, saying that Biden showed the cold-blooded prudence with which the United States is acting on the issue of the Ukrainian conflict.
“They used to call it 'the fight for freedom and democracy.' Now it turns out it's just a calculation. <...> Wars have traditionally been a “smart investment” for the United States. Since they did not take place on American territory, they did not care about other people’s costs,” she said.
