A Time of Piercing, Absolute TruthsWe don't need to convince. We need conviction. Plus: I'm gifting 100 comp subscriptions to followers who'd love to have full access but can't afford the luxury of a paid subscription
Yesterday evening, over dinner at a local activist friend’s house, the conversation touched on the age-old question of pragmatic political considerations versus a principled, unyielding stance. You can probably guess where I stand on this subject: I absolutely oppose any cooperation with genocidal systems. Period. My lovely hosts, a gracious and very political Californian couple, tended to agree with me almost fully. They listened with an open heart and an open mind to my reasoning (as I did to theirs). Alon Mizrahi, aka ‘Abdalla’s grandson‘ This question being crucial to how we interact with other people, parties, and platforms during this unparalleled time of everyday horrors, I felt it would be beneficial to share my perspective in writing with a bigger audience. The first political question is always ‘What is really going on here?’Before we reach any conclusions about any political situation, we need to have a firm grasp of what’s going on. Who are the different actors? What are the power relations between them? How does a given situation reflect (and it more often does than not) eternal moral-political themes like abuse of power, class-based exploitation, prejudice, privilege, racism, and patriarchal traditions? (Bonos questions: ‘how is what I’m looking at colonialism and imperialism?’) You see, it becomes very simple once you deconstruct fake complexity, created and constantly fueled by media outlets and political structures that benefit from the status quo, namely all the ills stated above. In real life, nothing is ever exceptionally morally complex. Contrary to colonial thinking, morality is simple, intuitive, and clear. You do not molest and abuse children (or anyone). You do not harm innocent people. You do not use authority unethically. You do not sit comfortably in public transportation when someone who needs a seat more than you do can’t find a place to sit. You never act, with people of any group, like they are less human than you or your group. If you do, you deserve to be shunned and punished by the rest of humanity. It is exceedingly simple. So once you understand what’s going on, and what basic principles of humanity and morality have been breached, all you have to do as a political being, is to make your voice and judgment heard. And the greater the breach of humanity, the louder and more fierce your voice should be, as the outcry needs to match the severity of the crime. It is not complicated at all. They know exactly what they’re supportingListen: there isn't a human alive who doesn’t know it is wrong to murder children. God or nature never burdened us with this specific form of monstrosity: people, except the very few real psychopaths, know that it is wrong to hurt life at their most fragile and defenseless. I would argue that even psychopaths know that because that is the kind of behavior they are attracted to. If they didn’t know it was wrong, they wouldn’t want to do just that. But anyway, people know, and even liberals and moderates know, though they pretend to not know what Israel is doing is repugnant and must be stopped at all costs, and using whatever means necessary, as would be expected when coming across a child molester in action. You do whatever you need to do to stop them. You don’t unlock your phone and start scrolling through images of yourself volunteering on election day, pretending to not see what’s in front of you. But because they don’t want the world to know that they know, so they can continue to enjoy their privileges and status while knowingly supporting genocide, they need to generate a cloud of confusion and fake complexity in which it is almost impossible to know right from wrong. Just like a psychopath knows what is wrong and forbidden because this is what attracts them, Gaza genocide enablers know what’s going on, and this is why they manufacture heaps of irrelevant yada yada just for this one occasion. People who will excommunicate you for misgendering someone or for throwing trash in the wrong can pretend to not know what to make of 20 dead children from one bomb on one residential building. Suddenly, where Arab children are concerned, life is not black and white. When Israel crimes, life becomes abstract and amorphous like a NYT opinion piece. I beseech you to not provide them with the cover of your engagement and the alibi of your conversation. Do not be dragged into their deliberate, willful support of evil. Your very engaging with them will hurt your moral integrity and very sanity. Israel is mass murdering the Palestinian and Lebanese people because it is a sick, demented, psychopathic society The US is helping Israel because it is willing to sacrifice Palestinian children for its deranged quest for world domination and because it is occupied by Zionists. Period. It is all as simple as that. There is no need to argue, no need to engage. We only need to make this truth heard everywhere, all the time, unequivocally, unapologetically, without any regard for acceptable norms and narratives. Be a fanatic for children and humanity. Yes. If you can’t do that, go to hell. I have nothing to say to you, and there is nothing you have to say to me. The power of absolute, nonnegotiable truthWe have been deceived into believing that for our voice to be heard and our stand to be considered, for our beliefs to be valid, we need to convince 50 million other people to think like us. This is rubbish. They told us that so we never have the courage to challenge them: how will you organize 50 million people when they control the media, the communication networks, and the law? It is nonsense. This is not what we should be about. What we should be is firm in our own beliefs and their validity, and become completely indifferent to the opinions of the rest of our rotten colonizer cultures. We need to force them to cope with absolute truths, not slogans designed for winning campaigns. Those mean nothing. They only assist the draconian status quo. We need to become fanatic, unyielding, and unbending believers because, the truth of the matter is, there is no set of ideas more divine and obliging, nothing more noble and right than fighting for humanity. If you know that you will not care about facing a million opposers. And, when you radiate this kind of reassurance, you will win over a billion believers. In fact, that’s the only way to do it. - You want to have full access to my writings but money is a little tight at the moment?
