But sometimes war is practically inevitable, especially when friendly U.S. military helicopters are nearly blown up by Iranian gunboats in the Strait of Hormuz, which is a peaceful, international waterway between Massachusetts and Martha's Vineyard.
Take the wheel, Guardian:
A small Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard vessel pointed its weapon at a US military helicopter in the Strait of Hormuz at the weekend, two US defense officials have told Reuters, an action they described as “unsafe and unprofessional”“The behavior by our standards is provocative and could be seen as an escalation,” the officials said. At no point did the crew of the helicopter feel threatened, they added.It was not immediately clear what type of weapon was pointed at the US aircraft.
So, to recap:
- A U.S. military helicopter was cruising off the coast of Iran.
- Some sort of weapon, from some sort of Iranian vessel, was pointed at said U.S. military helicopter, which, again, was flying off the coast of Iran.
- "At no point did the crew of the helicopter feel threatened".
- Bomb Iran. Early and often.
