The Totalitarian State 47

Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) made a statement this morning on the Central Intelligence Agency's interference in a Senate Select Committee report on the Agency's post 9/11 rendition and torture program.

Commenting, Alka Pradhan, Counter-terrorism Counsel at Reprieve US, said:

"This morning, Senator Feinstein has described the CIA's desperate attempts to obstruct a crucial Senate report on its infamous rendition and interrogation program.
"Many of Reprieve's clients who were tortured under the CIA’s program now face becoming victims of a shameful state cover-up.
"Senator Feinstein is right: the CIA torture program should never have existed. The only way to move forward from this terrible chapter in American history is to allow the Senate to fully exercise its oversight function, and to declassify the Senate Select Intelligence Committee Report on the CIA torture program.
"We cannot learn from history unless we know what it is.
"We call on President Obama to eschew his administration's long-held policy of secrecy, and to have the courage to hold the CIA publicly accountable for its actions."
