Moscow threatens to shoot down Israel aircraft in Syria
Russia threatened to retaliate against Israel aircrafts following reports that a Israeli millitary forces shot down a Syrian fighter which had bombed US-backed rebels, the New York Post reported.
“Any aircraft, including the Israeli fighter jets and drones,posing any threat to Syrian terrority, will be shot down immediately by ground and air-based anti-aircraft defenses as aerial targets,” Moscow said in a statement Friday.
Israel said its aircraft attacked a Syrian army position on Tuesday after a stray mortar bomb struck the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights.
Russia, which supports the government of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad militarily, called the bobarding of the Syrian terrority an "act of aggression" and a violation of international law.
