Henk Hofland en de Massa 56

The State is primarily an organization for killing foreigners. That's its main purpose. There are, of course, other things they do. They do a certain amount of educating; they try very hard to make the young think it's a grand thing to kill foreigners.
-- Bertrand Russel

Latin America is part of the world, which was for many years condemned to the system of power where intimidation had more strength than the vote... invasions and coups against any positive changes – progressive or nationalistic – concerning natural resources, independence, national dignity… Governments that intended to implement changes were destroyed. It happened in Brazil, Dominican Republic, Bolivia, in Chile, which became the most famous case because Salvador Allende was converted to an international symbol. Then the Sandinistas in Nicaragua, again the same thing – they were destroyed after ten years of war because they intended to create a country – fatherland – where there was only a colony before. So all this is a very long story, a story of frustrations, failures, of hope washed in blood. All this created the situation in which we are now. How can I explain it? Change is possible, but to implement the change, one has to fight against not only the painful and fucked up experiences of the last half century but also against the long betrayal and something that I call 'the culture of impotence.' It is a culture that has roots in the colonial period, in the period when the continent was controlled by Spain and Portugal and that was later broken up and consolidated by the military dictatorships and the fatalistic brothers of the church. All this helped to create a culture of impotence that manages to paralyze people with fear. It tells you that reality is untouchable, reality can’t be touched, can’t be changed. These days this culture of fear has a spokesman who is a universal god – the god of the market, a gangrenous figure. He is checking on us from above and tells us what we can do and what we can’t.

Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), foundational document of international human rights law. It has been referred to as humanity’s Magna Carta by Eleanor Roosevelt, who chaired the United Nations (UN) Commission on Human Rights that was responsible for the drafting of the document.

'The idea that we can shut down globalization, reduce trade… is wrong-headed,' Obama said on a conference call. 'That horse has left the barn.'

While Obama did not mention Warren by name, much of his commentary appeared to be directed at her... Warren responded by sending a fundraising email to her supporters warning that Obama's promises on the pact were hollow, since 'people like you can't see the actual deal.' [...]

'The fact of the matter is that TPP will end up being the most progressive trade agreement in our history,' Obama said.

But in a few areas, the pitch to progressives seemed to falter. Public health groups including Doctors Without Borders have criticized a leaked draft of one of the agreement's chapters for including overly strong intellectual property terms that would inflate the price of medicine, particularly in poor countries. On the call, Obama pointed to strong intellectual property standards as evidence that he was protecting American companies. [...]

The AFL-CIO, the nation's largest federation of labor unions, released a written statement responding to Obama on Friday afternoon.

'American workers who have lost their jobs due to trade deals are understandably skeptical,' AFL-CIO spokesman Eric Hauser said. 'The best way to regain workers’ confidence is to release the text, not scold the critics.'

'That horse has left the barn,' en daarom geldt dat, zoals Senator Elizabeth Warren zei,  'people like you can't see the actual deal.'

the final phase in cycles of hegemony, the 'endgame of champions,'

zo zet professor Jan Nederveen Pieterse de geschiedenis helder uiteen in zijn boek Is There Hope For Uncle Sam? (2008),

Hegemons build their strength in agriculture, industry and military capability, and when competitors begin to match their lead, the hegemon's financial lead remains and outlasts the others. This applied to the Spanish Habsburg Empire, Dutch hegemony, the British Empire, and for some time to the United States... neoliberalism as the dominant form of capitalism since 1980 has been characterized by the return to hegemony of the financial sector... A pattern these interventions share is that the credit instruments are privately owned whereas major credit risk is socialized. This is one of the intriguing features of the financial sector. First, several financial institutions win whether the market goed up or down because they earn a fee from any transaction. Second, the casino rule applies -- the house usually wins. Third, because the payments sector is essential to the stability of the economy, finance is treated as a public good and large financial interests are politically sheltered... Fourth, major Wall Street institutions are usually represented in government and the Treasury. Fifth, the financial sector has the wherewithal to fund political campaigns and buys political influence regardless of the party in power.

Inderdaad, 'The State is primarily an organization for killing foreigners.'

America’s Control Over the World Is Rapidly Eroding

uswar5315

The U.S. government has angered many countries because of their long history of highly aggressive military actions, but there seems to be no plan of stopping. It would be smart to listen to the other countries and simmer down in the military department before it is too late.

It’s no secret that the U.S. is most certainly not the most loved country in the world because of its government’s long history of highly aggressive military actions, as well as its interference in the internal affairs of countless nations. But what we are seeing today is that an increasing number of nations are turning against the U.S. and taking various actions to rid themselves of its presence and influence.
In a recent article entitled, “The Decline and Fall of the United States” David Swanson pointed out that, “Latin American nations are standing up to the United States. Some have kicked out its bases and ceased sending students to the School of the Americas. People are protesting at US bases in Italy, South Korea, England, and at US embassies in the Philippines, Czech Republic, and Ukraine. German courts are hearing charges that it is illegally participating in US drone wars. Pakistani courts have indicted top CIA officials.”
The U.S. Embassy in Libya remains closed; not long ago the embassy in Yemen closed and we can expect others to follow suit in the future. Even if the U.S. is the most powerful militarily, if the nations and people of the world no longer want its presence in their countries, there is little that Washington can do anything about it. The U.S. government’s extremely aggressive military policies are making new enemies at an alarming rate.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. The Middle East is in flames from Syria to Iraq to Yemen with more and more militant factions in those countries rising up in anger and frustration after being subjected to decades of oppression by foreign powers, including the U.S. Fighting is raging in these three countries and could easily spread to Pakistan, Somalia, Afghanistan, and any number of other Middle Eastern countries. Take a bow, G.W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and Barack Obama.
Talk about a complete transformation: America, once the most respected nation in the world has now become the most feared and, according to independent international organizations who study and report on world opinion on key issues, it is viewed by a majority of the nations of the world as a great threat to world peace.
The people of the world watched as the U.S. invaded, occupied and fought bloody, prolonged wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, two relatively small counties with populations of less than 30 million; they saw how U.S. forces were held to a standstill by guerilla-style fighters in each of these countries. These rapidly growing militant groups in various Middle Eastern countries, such as ISIS and Al-Qaeda, have learned from the Taliban in Afghanistan and the Sunnis and Shiites in Iraq on how to go up against U.S. forces and prevail.
This U.S. government, former President G.W. Bush and now President Obama, have followed a policy that states that, in certain countries that are suspected of harboring terrorists, all males between 18 and (roughly) 54 years of age are presumed to be terrorist combatants “unless there is explicit intelligence posthumously proving them innocent.”
In other words, they are all guilty as charged and subject to being wiped out by drones unless they can somehow come forward and show themselves to be innocent before they are attacked. To think that these war-obsessed government officials could possibly come up with such a misguided, inhuman policy is beyond comprehension.
It’s not only these angry and oppressed nations who are turning against the U.S. In Europe, among the nations that have been a part of NATO for decades, just below the surface there is an undercurrent of growing resistance against the U.S government and its overly aggressive military agenda, which does not bode well for the future of that North Atlantic alliance, one that originally was a “defensive” organization.
There’s a saying from the Christian Bible, “Those that live by the sword shall die by the sword.” Its meaning is, of course, that those who use violence against others will find that this same violence will eventually be used against them. That’s similar to another saying, “You will reap what you have sown.” And it’s happening as we speak.
We live in a world of 7.3 billion people in some 195 countries. Most of these countries and their citizens have watched as the U.S. government has appointed itself as the “policeman of the world”, acting in the role of prosecutor, judge and jury, and determining the fate of nations that refuse to bend to its dictates. That’s no way to make friends but it’s a sure way to make many enemies.
An increasing number of countries have decided that they have had enough of this intimidation and they no longer will be controlled and dominated by the U.S. government. That’s largely why we are seeing the emergence of so-called terrorist groups such as ISIS in Iraq and Syria, the escalating growth of Al-Qaeda all over the Middle East, the Houthi in Yemen, and Al-Shabaab in Somalia.
Other evidence that nations are severing ties with the U.S. can be found in the fact that many are aligning themselves with the BRICS group, i.e., Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, the growing consortium that, as one of its key objectives, intends to establish its own currency to eventually replace the U.S. dollar in world trade.
Yemen is in the midst of great internal strife with various militant factions fighting against each other. It was only a matter of time before this country and its people reached a boiling point and erupted in anger and extreme violence after being subjected to years of non-stop drone attacks by the Obama administration. Now it is being bombed relentlessly by air attacks by Saudi Arabia, aka, the country which has now been exposed as the region’s greatest facilitator of terrorism.
Some years ago there was a famous best-selling book entitled, “How to Win Friends and Influence People” written by Dale Carnegie. Now, based on what we have seen going on in the world for quite some time, it is very evident that the leaders of America have never read that book because their policies and actions are exactly the opposite of what Carnegie advised on how to win over friends. And instead of making new friends, they are making a plethora of new enemies.
Another book the leaders of America should have read, but obviously didn’t, is “Discovering the Power of Positive Thinking” by Norman Vincent Peale.
In contrast, is seems as if the leaders of China must have read both of those books and have adopted their main principles in carrying out their objectives in the world. While all we hear about the U.S. government is war and more war, what we hear about China is positive and constructive endeavors such as the initiation of numerous projects to build infrastructure in countries in Eurasia, Central Asia and other regions of the world. They have no time for war, they are too busy winning over new friends and making lasting alliances.
Now the U.S. government can try to ignore and dismiss the fact that these many countries are turning against America but that’s the worst thing it could possibly do. Those in positions of power and responsibility would do well to understand that it’s time that to read the handwriting on the wall and act accordingly; that is, before it’s too late.

Wikileak Cables: Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Washington's Pocket Since 2006

Wikileak Cables Poroshenko in Washington's Pocket
It turns out that Ukraine's new president, Petro Poroshenko, has been working for the U.S. government since at least 2006 and they knew he was corrupt.
There's not much point in staging a coup if you don't influence who is placed in power in the aftermath. Of course in order for a puppet government to be effective, they can't be perceived as such. You wouldn't want the natives to get restless would you?

The evidence that the U.S. was behind the toppling of the Ukrainian government early this year is so overwhelming at this point that the subject really isn't up for debate, however initially it was unclear how the election of Petro Poroshenko fit in. The ecstatic response by Washington when he was declared the winner, and their unbending support in spite of his ongoing military assault against civilians in the east, made it clear that he was the chosen one, but the paper trail wasn't immediately obvious.
As it turns out, the evidence that Poroshenko is in the pocket of the U.S. State Department has been available all this time, you just had to know where to find it. In a classified diplomatic cable from 2006 released by Wikileaks.org, U.S. officials refer to Poroshenko as "Our Ukraine (OU) insider Petro Poroshenko"
A separate cable also released by Wikileaks makes it clear that the U.S. government was considered Poroshenko corrupt.
"Poroshenko was tainted by credible corruption allegations, but wielded significant influence within OU; Poroshenko's price had to be paid."
The U.S. government knew Poroshenko was dirty, but he was influential, and arguably their most dependable mole.
Perhaps the most interesting revelation comes from a 2009 cable where Poroshenko told then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton he supported "the opening of a U.S. diplomatic presence in Crimea" and "He emphasized the importance of Crimea, and said that having U.S. representation there would be useful for Ukraine." Poroshenko's role as an informant for the U.S. government continued in cables in 2010 as well.
Reading through the cables, I have to wonder if Poroshenko was actually breaking Ukrainian law by sharing the kind of strategic information that he did. Considering that this information was certainly used when planning the coup against Yanukovich, one could argue that he committed treason.
Poroshenko, however, isn't the only Ukrainian politician mentioned. For example, the cables mention the scandal surrounding Oleksandr Turchynov's destruction of SBU documents tying Julia Tymoshenko to organized crime, and note that the accusation that Tymoshenko wanted Turchynov get the Interior Minister position so that she could gather damaging information on her enemies. The cable refers to this accusation as "not farfetched". Turchynov went on to be installed as the acting president of Ukraine in the provisional government.
In order to grasp the extent of the U.S. government's tinkering in Ukraine it is worth reading the documents for yourself.
