Frank Westerman's Provinciale Schrijverij 28

Om te beginnen, enkele feiten uit 'the land of the free and home of the brave':

The top one tenth of one percent of Americans has as much wealth as the bottom 90 percent of Americans combined. Out of the 540 billionaires in the United States just three are black,

Mevrouw Stein lichtte haar standpunt asls volgt toe:

It's important to look at where we are going. It's not just a moment in time, but where has the strategy of voting for the lesser evil taken us?

All these times you have been told to vote for the lesser evil because you didn't want the wars, or the meltdown of the climate, or the offshoring of our jobs, or the attack on immigrants, or the massive bailout for Wall Street, but that is actually what we have gotten. By the droves (in groten getale. svh.)

Because we with public interest allow ourselves to be silent, and voted for the lesser evil. But the lesser evil doesn't solve the problem.

The Obama administration, even with both houses of Congress, actually did all of these fossil fuel emissions. ‘All of the above’ gave us some renewable energy but it completely amplified and intensified our carbon production, which has been incredibly destructive to the climate.

The wars have gotten bigger, we are now bombing seven countries.

It is important to not just look at the rhetoric but also look at the track record and the reality is the lesser people and greater people is a race to the bottom, and even Donald Trump in the right wing extremism grows out of the policies of the Clintons, in particular Nafta, which sent our jobs overseas and Wall Street deregulation, which blew 9 million jobs up into smoke.

That is what is creating this right wing extremism. A vote for Hillary Clinton isn't going to fix it...

It is now Hillary Clinton that wants to start an air war with Russia over Syria by calling for a no fly zone.

We have 2000 nuclear missiles on hair-trigger alert. They are saying we are closer to a nuclear war than we have ever been.

Under Hillary Clinton, we could slide into nuclear war very quickly from her declared policy in Syria.

I sure won't sleep well at night if Donald Trump is elected, but I sure won't sleep well at night if Hillary Clinton elected. We have another choice other than these two candidates who are both promoting lethal policies.

On the issue of war and nuclear weapons, it is actually Hillary's policies which are much scarier than Donald Trump who does not want to go to war with Russia.

He wants to seek modes of working together, which is the route that we need to follow not to go into confrontation and nuclear war with Russia.
Dinsdag 21 juni 2016 kon men het volgende lezen:

Gary Byrne, a former Secret Service agent for President Bill Clinton has written a book in which he exposes the rage and ‘eruptive’ behavior of Hillary Clinton during her time as first lady.

Breitbart News has released an excerpt of the book. In the excerpt, the author wrote, ‘The First Lady had a different sort of liveliness.’

He went on to say, ‘She once threw a Bible at an agent on her detail, hitting him in the back of the head. He bluntly let her know it wasn’t acceptable. He told me that story himself.’

In the book, Byrne — who was posted at the door to the Oval Office for three years — states that an assignment to the former first lady’s detail was considered a punishment.

Byrne also wrote the agents knew to brace for the eruptions, saying, ‘They didn’t happen every day, but behind closed doors we learned about them fast. In public, she was everyone’s best friend. Privately, she was her normal self.’

At one point in the book, Byrne gives an account of Clinton telling one agent to ‘Go to hell!,’ while telling another to, ‘Go f*** yourself!’

Byrne expressed concern that Clinton may become the next president.

He wrote, ‘Hillary Clinton is now poised to become the Democratic nominee for president of the United States, but she simply lacks the integrity and temperament to serve in the office.’

Bryne went on to say, ‘From the bottom of my soul, I know this to be true. And with Hillary’s latest rise, I realize that her own leadership style — volcanic, impulsive, enabled by sycophants, and disdainful of the rules set for everyone else — hasn’t changed a bit.’

Het enige zinnige is te stellen dat ‘it takes one to know one.’

Enige achtergrond-informatie:

THE CLINTON FACTOR IN THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO (DRC.svh)

When she was a senator, Hillary Clinton was one of the first 12 cosponsors to sign on in support of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Relief, Security, and Democracy Promotion Act of 2006. The Act addressed the issue of conflict minerals in a bid to combat the violence which resulted because of the mineral trade as well as human rights and corruption. In strongly worded speeches, she asserted her support for the ordinary citizens of the country, even proclaiming, ‘We will help you build a strong, civilian-led government that is accountable and transparent.’

Those were just words! When DRC held widely disputed elections in 2011, the State Department she was leading stayed out of it and called it an ‘internal affair.’ The United Nations Group of Experts then revealed Rwanda’s involvement in the DRC but under Hillary Clinton who served as Secretary of State, the State Department ‘sought to block or delay publication of the damning portion of the investigation.’ Clinton Cash establishes a connection between Clinton’s reluctance to act on her words in the DRC and her relations with business people like Lukas Lundin who committed $100 million to the Clinton Foundation through a charity called Lundin for Africa. Lundin’s companies operate in controversial, war torn areas where competition avoids. Adolph Lundin, the founder of the companies had made his money mining in apartheid South Africa even after the United Nations applied international sanctions. The Lundin’s had entered the DRC by striking deals with then rebel leader, Laurent Kabila who they sponsored in return for mining rights if he ascended to power, which he did. The Act which Clinton had cosponsored was a real threat to the Lundin interests and logically, they would not have wanted to see it being implemented. It would seem the $100 million was enough to stop Clinton from implementing the Relief, Security and Democracy Promotion Act.

CLINTON’S UNHOLY ETHIOPIAN TIES

One of Saudi Arabia’s richest men, Mohammed al-Amoudi is said to have made his fortune from his ties with Ethiopia’s Meles Zenawi and his repressive government. This same man (Amoudi) committed $20 million to the Clinton Foundation in May 2007. Meanwhile, the Ethiopia Democracy and Accountability Act had been introduced and was then passed that October. The idea was to pressurise the government of the country to be more transparent if it was to get aid from the USA. This pressure to change would have affect Amoudi who benefitted from the status-quo, so he made his move. Amoudi, a man not known for his philanthropy, a man who had been approached by local AIDS organizations for fractions of what he gave the Clinton Foundation but turned them down suddenly became the prime example of generosity. An Ethiopian human rights organization flagged this in a letter to Bill Clinton, writing, ‘We have reason to believe that the huge donation to the Clinton Foundation was made on behalf of the Ethiopian government.’

Hillary Clinton’s tenure as Secretary of State predictably did not change much in Ethiopia. If anything, Zenawi, though famed for his repressive streak was held with high regard by the Clintons, even being called up for Clinton Foundation events. Though the Accountability Act had been passed, Clinton’s State Department continued to give hundreds of millions worth of aid though it was clear that the Ethiopian government was not transparent in its dealings. Amoudi’s Dashen Bank reaped unimaginable benefits from the USAID’s Development Credit Authority. Was this what Amoudi’s $20 million bought him?

THE DARK CLINTON SHADOW IN SOUTH SUDAN

In the United States corridors of power, one Joe Wilson commands a lot of respect because of his close relationship to the Clintons. In the first Hillary Clinton presidential campaign, he was vocal and proclaimed Hillary, ‘easily the better candidate’ than Obama. This same Wilson became vice chairman of Jarch Capital, a company with interests in natural resources in countries it expected ‘sovereignty changes.’ This is a politically correct representation of “war-torn” countries. Philippe Heilberg, the founder of the company had said, ‘You have to go to the guns, this is Africa.’ He meant his company would strike deals with warlords. Through its subsidiary, Jarch Management, the company has brokered massive deals taking advantage of the South Sudanese situation. The leaders of the company are quite possibly the grey suits behind the continued conflict in the region. It is this soiled character (Joe Wilson) who was considered a key adviser to Hillary Clinton in her tenure as Secretary of State. How unfortunate!

EVEN IN NIGERIA

One of the Clintons’ favorite people is businessman, Gilbert Chagoury. Chagoury’s partnership with despotic Sani Abacha helped him amass much wealth. Nuhu Ribadu who led the anti-corruption prosecution in Nigeria said, ‘You couldn’t investigate corruption without looking at Chagoury.’ He further said Chagoury had helped siphon $4 billion from Nigeria into tax havens. This same Chagoury is then found in history contributing $469,000 to the Clinton re-election campaign in 1996 ‘on Abacha’s behalf.’ The policy towards Nigeria took a dramatic 180 degree turn with an evidently tolerant tone for Abacha being adopted. Chagoury was later convicted for the crime of money laundering during the Abacha administration but the Clintons remained friends with him. In 2009, he even pledged $1 billion to the Clinton legacy project. Such a character who has been at the center of robbing Africa should be the last person the Clintons associate with but not in this case.

One may say some of these relationships the Clintons have are entirely personal but such naivety would encourage Africa to look away as the American leadership strengthens characters who are destroying the continent. Media Matters for America attempted to undermine the findings of Clinton Cash but in the case of Africa, the one argument it proffered was that Clinton was simply continuing with a policy-framework of the Bush administration. This does not make it better! Africa is not going to be comforted by the fact that leader after leader in the United States chooses to support looting dictators, warlords and unscrupulous businesspeople who connive to strip the continent of all it has. This whole business has colonial undertones and the Clintons are the face of this new age of imperialism.

It is fortunate for Saudi Arabia and Qatar that the furore over the sexual antics of Donald Trump is preventing much attention being given to the latest batch of leaked emails to and from Hillary Clinton. Most fascinating of these is what reads like a US State Department memo, dated 17 August 2014, on the appropriate US response to the rapid advance of Isis forces, which were then sweeping through northern Iraq and eastern Syria.

At the time, the US government was not admitting that Saudi Arabia and its Sunni allies were supporting Isis and al-Qaeda-type movements. But in the leaked memo, which says that it draws on ‘western intelligence, US intelligence and sources in the region’ there is no ambivalence about who is backing Isis, which at the time of writing was butchering and raping Yazidi villagers and slaughtering captured Iraqi and Syrian soldiers.

The memo says: ‘We need to use our diplomatic and more traditional intelligence assets to bring pressure on the governments of Qatar and Saudi Arabia, which are providing clandestine financial and logistic support to Isis and other radical groups in the region.’ This was evidently received wisdom in the upper ranks of the US government, but never openly admitted because to it was held that to antagonize Saudi Arabia, the Gulf monarchies, Turkey and Pakistan would fatally undermine US power in the Middle East and South Asia.

When the bombing of Syria began in September, Obama announced with pride that Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Turkey were all joining the US as military partners against Isis. But, as the Americans knew, these were all Sunni states which had played a central role in fostering (aanmoedigen. svh) the jihadis in Syria and Iraq. This was a political problem for the US, as Joe Biden revealed to the embarrassment of the administration in a talk at Harvard on 2 October. He said that Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the UAE had promoted ‘a proxy Sunni-Shia war’ in Syria and ‘poured hundreds of millions of dollars and tens of thousands of tons of weapons into anyone who would fight against Assad -- except that the people who were being supplied were al-Nusra and al-Qaida and the extremist element of jihadis coming from other parts of the world.’ He admitted that the moderate Syrian rebels, supposedly central to US policy in Syria, were a negligible military force. Biden later apologized for his words, but what he had said was demonstrably true and reflects what the administration in Washington really believes. Though they expressed outrage at Biden's frankness, America's Sunni allies swiftly confirmed the limits of their co-operation. Prince al-Waleed bin Talal al-Saud, a business magnate and member of the Saudi royal family, said: ‘Saudi Arabia will not be involved directly in fighting Isis in Iraq or Syria, because this does not really affect our country explicitly.' In Turkey, Erdogan said that so far as he was concerned the PKK was just as bad as Isis.

En al op 12 mei 2013 schreef de goed geïnformeerde Canadese hoogleraar Michel Chossudovsky onder de kop ‘America is Losing its Covert Syria War: US Sponsored Al Nusra Rebels Defeated by Syrian Armed Forces’ dat:

Ironically, while the Al Nusra terrorists are directly supported and financed by the Pentagon, they are on the State Department’s list of terrorist organizations.

Secretary of State John Kerry’s recent initiatives have largely been instrumental in increasing the flow of money and military support to the terrorists under the disguise of ‘humanitarian aid.’

It was also very importantly part of the plan that when those efforts of cooperation commenced Syrian warplanes would be prohibited from flying over areas where the legitimate opposition, al-Nusra, were present, in order to give us the opportunity to work at the separation.

The Obama administration has long portrayed the opposition groups it has been arming with anti-tank weapons as independent of Nusra Front.  In reality, the administration has been relying on the close cooperation of these ‘moderate’ groups with Nusra Front  to put pressure on the Syrian government. The United States and its allies — especially Saudi Arabia and Turkey —- want the civil war to end with the dissolution of the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who is backed by US rivals like Russia and Iran.

Reflecting the fact that Nusra Front was created by Al Qaeda and has confirmed its loyalty to it, the administration designated Nusra as a terrorist organization in 2013.  But the US has carried out very few airstrikes against it since then, in contrast to the other offspring of Al Qaeda, the Islamic State or ISIS (Daesh), which has been the subject of intense air attacks from the US and its European allies. The US has remained silent about Nusra Front’s leading role in the military effort against Assad, concealing the fact that Nusra’s success in northwest Syria has been a key element in Secretary of State John Kerry’s diplomatic strategy for Syria.

undercoverinfo.org  reports,

‘In a recent article in the Guardian, Professor David Graeber of the London School of Economics stated how "Back in August, the YPG, fresh from their victories in Kobani and Gire Spi, were poised to seize Jarablus, the last Isis-held town on the Turkish border that the terror organisation had been using to resupply its capital in Raqqa with weapons, materials, and recruits -- Isis supply lines pass directly through Turkey." Graeber added: "Commentators predicted that with Jarablus gone, Raqqa would soon follow. Erdogan reacted by declaring Jarablus a "red line": if the Kurds attacked, his forces would intervene militarily -- against the YPG. So Jarablus remains in terrorist hands to this day, under de facto Turkish military protection.’

Veteran journalist Diana Johnstone captures the imperial worldview of Hillary Clinton in memorable detail. Hillary the Hawk, as U.S. Senator and Secretary of State, never saw a weapons system she did not support nor a U.S. war practice she did not endorse. This included her hyper-aggressive launch of the war on I.ibya (against the opposition of Secretary of Defense Robert Gates) and the resulting sprawling chaos, violence and weapons dispersal spilling beyond Libya’s war-torn society to larger regions of central Africa. Johnstone documents Hillary Clinton as ‘the top salesperson for the ruling oligarchy’ and ‘the favorite candidate of the War Part.’ That is what is at stake in November 2016.

The   U.S.   Presidential   election   is   essentially  a   popular entertainment event. Billionaire sponsors send two carefully-vetted contenders into the arena, sure to win either way. The intellectual level of Republican-Democrat confrontation increasingly recalls that of the parties that divided the early Byzantine Empire, based on blue and green chariot racing teams. In the 2016 presidential election, the Good Cop party and the Bad Cop party will disagree about domestic policy issues before everything gets stalled in Congress. But the most significant issue of all is the choice of war.

Since the War Party dominates both branches of the Two-Party-System, the recent track record suggests that the Republicans will nominate a candidate bad enough to make Hillary look good.
