In a live interview with Al Jazeera television, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told the TV channel the reason for the NATO alliance refusing Ukraine entry into NATO is not because NATO would be drawn into war with Russia.
She stated NATO is already at war with Russia, and the true reason for the denial is that allowing Ukraine into NATO would require official recognition of Ukraine's borders.
This is unacceptable to the alliance because there is an intention to annex western Ukraine into Poland at the conclusion of the war.
