New Revelations on Germ Warfare: It’s Time for a
Reckoning with Our History from the Korean War
The New York Times, which for years has maintained that U.S. airmen’s statements about use of biological weapons during the Korean War were “false confessions” obtained by Chinese and North Korean torture, never acknowledged the following submission sent to its opinion section in November 2020. I am publishing the article instead at CounterPunch, which is not afraid of uncomfortable truths.

It’s been 70 years since the beginning of the Korean War. For young adults in their twenties today, that’s ancient history. It is as distant to them as the 1905 Russo-Japanese War was to me when I was 20 years old! But in both China and North Korea, the memory of the Korean War and charges of war crimes against America from that war remain a vivid part of the national consciousness, stoked at various times by the regimes in charge.
The North Korean and Chinese allegations of American use of biological weapons during the Korean War made headlines at the time, and the controversy over U.S. Air Force officers admitting under enemy interrogation details of germ warfare attacks rocked the U.S. defense establishment. In 1998, scholars connected to the Cold War International History Project (CWIHP) at the Wilson Center published documents that they claimed showed the germ warfare charges were a hoax, “a grand piece of political theater,” as Milton Leitenberg, Senior Research Fellow at the Center for International and Security Studies at the University of Maryland, notably put it.

But in 2010, the CIA declassified hundreds of communications intelligence, or COMINT, daily reports from the Korean War. U.S. historians have mostly ignored this release. Over the past few years, I have undertaken an examination of these documents and found more than two dozen that were pertinent to the biological warfare charges. As I demonstrated in a September 2020 essay on the topic at Medium.com, these documents vividly portray the reactions and responses of North Korean and Chinese military units responding to biological weapons attack.
What follows are some samples from the entire batch of reports. The grammar and syntax can seem off at times, as the U.S. military and CIA lacked experienced linguists during this period.
Relying on information from the codebreakers at the Armed Forces Security Agency, the predecessor of today’s National Security Agency, a top-secret March 6 CIA report read, “An unidentified Chinese Communist unit on 26 February reported that ‘yesterday it was discovered that in our bivouac area there was a real flood of bacteria and germs from a plane by the enemy. Please supply us immediately with an issue of DDT that we may combat this menace, stop the spread of this plague, and eliminate all bacteria.’”
Another CIA report stated that on 3 March a “North Korean coastal security unit in eastern Korea reported… that UN bacteriological warfare agents in the surrounding area had prevented the movement of transportation since 21 February. Later in the day the unit reported to Pyongyang that ‘Pupyong (just southwest of Hamhung)… is the contaminated area. According to the correct news, no one can pass through it. If you do not act quickly, the 12th and 13th guard stations will have fallen into starvation conditions.’” [Parenthesis in original]
Then we have the following from a 6 March report: “Two coastal security stations in northeastern Korea reported on 11 March that ‘the bacteria bomb classified as mosquito, fly, and flea were dispersed,’ and ‘an enemy plane dropped ants, fleas, mosquitos, flies and crickets.’” The emphasis on insects reminds us that the Communists alleged at the time that the U.S. was working secretly with the former scientists of Japan’s Unit 731, who experimented extensively with the use of insect vectors in germ warfare. During this period and for years afterward, the U.S. falsely denied that Japan’s scientists had committed war crimes and attacked China with biological weapons during World War II.
According to a 21 March CIA COMINT report, “a North Korean message, probably from the 23rd Brigade in western Korea, reports the alleged dropping of bacteria in the area occupied by the ‘18th Regiment, 4th Division.’”
A 9 May report: ‘They dropped spiders and ants over Songjin city… today,’ a North Korean coastal security station in northeastern Korea reported…. The message continues that the alleged drop area has been isolated and is being investigated by ‘the plague prevention work committee.’”
Not all the reports verified the use of bacterial weapons. In a 25 March intercept from a North Korean battalion in the Hamhung area, a North Korean military sanitation officer, sent to affirm a supposed biological warfare attack “reported that the policeman’s report was false and that the flies ‘were not caused from bacterial weapon but from the fertilizers on the place.’” In other words, not only were the attacks not a hoax, but Communist officials examined such reports from the field on the spot and noted cases where the accusations were mistaken, or found in some cases that no insects carried infectious material.
As Milton Leitenberg stated in a 2016 essay, which otherwise maintained the germ war allegations were untrue, the charges themselves remain 70 years after the fact “an issue of great importance to those concerned with arms control and allegations of the use of Weapons of Mass Destruction.” He was right. This alleged war crime is of high importance, and achieving peace with nuclear-armed China and North Korea depends, in part, on being honest about past transgressions of the United States against those countries.
Both the alleged Soviet documents presented back in 1998 by Mr. Leitenberg and scholar Kathryn Weathersby, and also a later purported memoir by Chinese doctor Wu Zhili, which also alleged falsification of the BW evidence, cannot withstand the failure of those documents, whose provenance has always been obscure, to withstand independent corroboration by external sources of information, not least, from the CIA COMINT documents themselves.
The Leitenberg/Weathersby documents allege that Communist in-fighting over the BW “hoax” led to a cessation of Communist charges of germ warfare by early 1953. But that’s not true. The charges continued throughout 1953 (as this New York Times article described) and for long afterward. Even more telling, the CWIHP documents failed to tell a coherent story, moving around the date of the alleged falsification of BW attack sites from before to then after an international team of investigators arrived to examine the charges. The date is crucial because the time to organize a large-scale deception — one that would involve hundreds of eyewitness reports given to investigators, the collection of bomb fragments, the testing materials and samples from alleged bacterial attack, etc. — would take some time, if it could be successfully done at all.
There were other problems with the CWIHP documents, which only document from two to four sites of simulated biowarfare attack. But two investigation commissions documented dozens of sites of infection following U.S. air drops of contaminated insects, feathers, and other materials. Neither Mr. Leitenberg nor Ms. Weathersby has ever explained that issue, except to surmise that there may be documents that have yet to surface. In any case, the old fraud accusations seem moot now that we have evidence of Communist military units during the Korean War responding privately to each other regarding the vicissitudes of biological weapons attack.
Wherever the long denials of U.S. use of biological weapons during the Korean War may have originated, and no matter what the authority behind them, the denials fade away in the face of new unassailable documentation from U.S. government records of germ warfare attacks against North Korean and Chinese military units. The question now is how will U.S. historians, political scientists, the press, and the public respond to this turnabout regarding the old germ war charges.

The U.S. record regarding the acknowledgment of atrocities during the Korean War is poor. In January 2001, President Clinton did issue a statement expressing “regret” for American killings in July 1950 of hundreds of unarmed South Korean civilians at No Gun Ri. As the New York Times noted at the time, Clinton’s “statement fell short of the apology many Koreans have demanded.”
It is time for a reckoning with our past. If we expect change in China and North Korea, then there must be change in the United States. Author Nicolson Baker has recently called for the declassification of all records from the Korean War. Perhaps a President Joe Biden administration will consider revising a policy that has not worked for decades, and as part of a general peace offensive in the region, finally admit American responsibility for its actions, including use of biological weapons. With such an admission, the U.S. could then call for a turning of the page and a new day of openness and peaceful coexistence in East Asia.

Wie das russische Fernsehen über das größte Nato-Manöver seit Jahrzehnten berichtet
Während die deutschen "Qualitätsmedien" sich täglich darüber aufregen, dass Russland innerhalb des eigenen Landes Truppen verlegt, verschweigen sie möglichst, dass die Nato demnächst mit 40.000 Soldaten direkt an der russischen Grenze den Krieg gegen Russland trainiert.
Das Nato-Manöver Defender 2021 ist in den deutschen „Qualitätsmedien“ kein Thema. Sogar die Pressestelle des Pentagon in Hamburg, der Spiegel, schweigt sich betreten über das größte Nato-Manöver seit dem Kalten Krieg aus. Eine Suchanfrage mit dem Begriff „Defender“ ergibt beim Spiegel exakt 0 (in Worten Null) Ergebnisse zu dem Manöver. Anscheinend möchte man in der Hamburger Redaktion der Pentagon-Propaganda nicht, dass deutsche Leser davon erfahren, dass demnächst 40.000 Nato-Soldaten direkt an der russischen Grenze Krieg spielen und den Angriff auf Russland proben. Das könnte die Leser ja auf die Idee bringen, dass Russland durchaus Gründe hat, nervös zu sein, vor allem, weil das Manöver zeitlich so exakt mit der Verschärfung der Lage in der Ukrainezusammenfällt.
In Russland hingegen wird über das Manöver berichtet, daher übersetze ich hier einen Beitrag des russischen Fernsehens vom 9. April, der zusammen mit meiner Übersetzung auch ohne Russischkenntnisse verständlich sein sollte. (Anm. d. Über.: Ich übersetze hierbei den schriftlichen Artikel, die Einleitung des Nachrichtensprechers ist in dem Video nicht zu sehen, das im Internet gezeigte Video beginnt bei der Reportage)

Das Szenario des Manövers ist wie ein Krieg: Wie die NATO Spannungen in der Nähe der russischen Grenzen abbaut
Die Nato-Staaten planen, etwa 40.000 Soldaten und 15.000 Stück militärisches Geräte in der Nähe der Westgrenzen Russlands zu konzentrieren. Die Hälfte dieses Kontingents stammt aus den Vereinigten Staaten. Die erste Lieferung von Waffen wurde bereits in den griechischen Hafen Alexandroupolis geliefert.
Heute informierte die Türkei die Mitglieder der Montreux-Konvention über zwei amerikanische Schiffe, die auf dem Weg ins Schwarze Meer sind. Das teilte die russischen Botschaft in Ankara mit. Medienberichten zufolge handelt es sich dabei um die Zerstörer „Roosevelt“ und „Donald Cook.“ Zuvor hatte die amerikanische Presse unter Berufung auf eine Quelle im Pentagon berichtet, dass die USA erwägen, in den kommenden Wochen Kriegsschiffe ins Schwarze Meer zu schicken, „um der Ukraine ihre Unterstützung zu demonstrieren.“ Auch die Aktivitäten der NATO an der russischen Grenzen nehmen zu. Heute sind die internationalen Manöver in Lettland zu Ende gegangen und bald wird die NATO das groß angelegte Manöver mit dem Namen „Defender Europe“ durchführen.

Es ist der zweite Anlauf für „Defender Europe.“ Im vergangenen Jahr hat das NATO-Manöver, das dem Namen nach die Alte Welt beschützen soll, geendet, bevor es wirklich angefangen hat. Statt einer imaginären russischen Aggression sah sich Europa dem Coronavirus gegenüber. Und so haben sich die NATO-Truppen aus Angst vor der Epidemie zurückgezogen, während die Russen auf einem Luftwaffenstützpunkt 30 Kilometer von Rom entfernt gelandet sind, um das von der EU und der Nato im Stich gelassene Italien, wo hunderte Menschen am starben, mit humanitärer Hilfe zu versorgen.
Und jetzt, ein Jahr später, haben die NATO-Soldaten beschlossen, zu beenden, was sie angefangen hatten. An dem Manöver „Defender Europe 2021“ nahe der russischen Westgrenzen sollen rund 40.000 NATO-Truppen und 15.000 Stück militärisches Gerät und Ausrüstung teilnehmen. Die Amerikaner selbst wollen bis zu 20.000 Soldaten schicken, einige davon werden mitsamt ihren Waffen über den Atlantik transportiert. Die erste Lieferung – etwa 70 Hubschrauber und 300 Spezialfahrzeuge – wurde bereits in den griechischen Hafen Alexandroupolis geliefert.
„Die Manöver werden in Rumänien, Bulgarien und Kroatien stattfinden, und das Schwarze Meer wird teilweise mit einbezogen. Die Verlegung der Einheiten, die an dem Manöver teilnehmen werden, begann im März. Jetzt werden die Truppen zu den Truppenübungsplätzen verlegt. Der wichtigste Grund des Manövers ist es, Russland entgegenzutreten, das wird nicht einmal verheimlicht“, sagt der Herausgeber der Zeitschrift „Arsenal Otetschestva“ und Militärexperte Alexej Leonkow.
Die Nordatlantische Allianz wird Koalitionsgruppen ins Schwarzen Meer und ins Baltikum entsenden. Es werden Kriegsszenarien mit Russland geübt. Die strategischen Bomber der US-Luftwaffe von der Fairford Base aus werden wahrscheinlich Raketenangriffe auf unsere militärischen Ziele simulieren, die gleichen Ziele haben Schiffs- und Artillerie-Angriffsgruppen im Schwarzen Meer.
Diese Manöver sind besorgniserregend, aber die russische Regierung versichert, dass unsere Armee in der Lage ist, die Sicherheit entlang der gesamten russischen Grenze zu gewährleisten.
„Wir sind auf jede Entwicklung vorbereitet. Am wichtigsten ist, dass wir im Schwarzen Meer einen mächtigen, unsinkbaren Flugzeugträger haben – die Krim. Sie ist in der Lage, jedes Objekt der Gegenseite zu treffen. Man sagt nicht umsonst, wem die Krim gehört, der kontrolliert das Schwarze Meer. Daher sollten die Hitzköpfe abkühlen und sich daran erinnern, dass Russland nie jemanden angegriffen hat, aber auch nie verloren hat“, erinnert sich der erste stellvertretende Leiter des Ausschusses des Föderationsrates für internationale Angelegenheiten Vladimir Jabarov.
Das Problem sind auch nicht die Manöver selbst. Nach dem Rückzug der USA aus dem Open-Skies-Vertrag wird es schwierig sein, nachzuvollziehen, ob alle US-Truppen und Ausrüstung wieder nach Hause zurückgekehrt sind. Experten schließen nicht aus, dass einige Einheiten in Osteuropa bleiben könnten.
„Es wird sehr schwierig sein, die Vereinigten Staaten zu kontrollieren, und darüber hinaus kann man sagen, dass ein erheblicher Teil der Kräfte und Ausrüstung in einem Gebiet außerhalb einer objektiven Kontrolle sein wird. Das gibt Anlass zur Sorge – die militärischen Fähigkeiten der NATO in Europa werden Jahr für Jahr ausgebaut“, sagt Andrej Koshkin, Militärexperte und Leiter der Abteilung für Politikwissenschaft und Soziologie an der Plechanow-Universität.
In den amerikanischen Häfen Charleston und Beaumont werden derzeit weitere amerikanische Transporte verladen. Ihre Ankunft in Europa ist für Ende Mai dieses Jahres geplant. Die Ironie dabei ist, dass das größte NATO-Manöver seit 30 Jahren unter dem Motto „Abbau der Spannungen“ durchgeführt wird. Allein in diesem Jahr wurden nach Angaben des russischen Verteidigungsministeriums 78 Flüge amerikanischer strategischer Bomber durchgeführt und die Zahl der Aufklärungsflüge in der Nähe der russischen Grenzen hat sich im Vergleich zum Vorjahr verdoppelt.
Und all das geschieht vor dem Hintergrund der drastischen Verschlechterung der Lage im Südosten der Ukraine. So drängen die USA und ihre Verbündeten Kiew de facto, das Problem im Donbass mit Gewalt zu lösen.
„Wir haben auch die Erklärung des ukrainischen Präsidenten gehört, der gestern den Donbass besuchte, dass der Beitritt des Landes zur NATO den Konflikt in der Region angeblich beenden würde. Eine hypothetische Mitgliedschaft in der Allianz wird entgegen den Erwartungen Kiews der Ukraine nicht nur keinen Frieden bringen, sondern im Gegenteil zu einer massiven Eskalation der Lage im Südosten und zu irreversiblen Folgen für die ukrainische Staatlichkeit führen“, sagte die Sprecherin des russischen Außenministeriums, Maria Sacharowa.
Auf europäischen Autobahnen sieht man militärische Ausrüstung. Waffen und NATO-Schiffe sind in den Häfen. Und das im Jahr 2021, in dem die wichtigste Aufgabe der EU nicht darin besteht, militärische Macht zu demonstrieren, sondern die Wirtschaft nach den endlosen Lockdowns zu sanieren. Kolossale Mittel werden zur Abwehr einer zukünftigen hypothetischen Bedrohung durch Russland verwendet, und nicht für den Kampf gegen die Infektion, an der täglich Tausende von Bürgern der NATO-Länder sterben.

Velen denken nog steeds dat we er bijna zijn. Nog eventjes de maatregelen volhouden en je prikkie halen en dan gaat alles weer terug naar hoe het was.
Lekker vrij zijn! We snakken er allemaal naar.
Daar zit dus gelijk de adder onder het gras. Als je nog steeds onder de illusie bent dat dit het laatste stapje is terug naar de vrijheid, dan moet ik je toch teleurstellen. Het is het namelijk de eerste reuze stap in een nieuwe, onvrije wereld. Het “nieuwe normaal”, weet je nog dat ze dit al riepen terwijl er nog amper wat aan de hand was nu ruim een jaar geleden? Vreemd voor degenen die niet zien dat dit alles een weldoordacht plan is, doch volkomen logisch voor hen die doorhebben hoe al deze puzzelstukjes perfect in elkaar passen.
Toen ik een jaar geleden begon met het beschrijven van de wereld waarin we terecht zouden komen als we overal maar “Ja en Amen” op zeggen, werd ik door velen uitgemaakt voor een paniekzaaier, een doemdenker. Nu zijn er nog steeds mensen die dit zeggen, alleen gelukkig wel een stuk minder. Immers tot op heden liggen we goed op koers naar dit “nieuwe normaal” en met de komst van de nieuwe “C-paspoorten” zijn we echt aan de vooravond van de val in een inktzwarte tunnel. Nee, beste gelovigen van de propaganda-machine, we staan dus niet aan de vooravond van onze vrijheid. We staan helaas aan de rand van de afgrond en het ergste is dat jullie het nog niet zien. Daarom dat ik het nog maar een keertje benoem. Niet om je nog meer angst in te boezemen, want ik wil alleen maar dat mensen gelukkig zijn. Niet om paniek te zaaien, want ik wil alleen maar een wereld van vrede en vreugde voor mijn kinderen. En niet omdat ik een zwartkijker ben, want ik wil alleen maar vanuit liefde en licht leven. Nee, simpelweg omdat het waar is. Alleen door de waarheid onder ogen te zien en er vervolgens naar te handelen, komen we uit deze wurggreep. En niet door maar te blijven geloven in de fabeltjes die de autoriteiten ons maar de hele tijd opspelden. Of is het je ontgaan dat men de doelpalen steeds weer verschuift? En is het je ook ontgaan dat in Engeland ze ondanks de massale inentingen nog steeds blijven vasthouden aan allerlei maatregelen en zelftesten? Beter om de waarheid onder ogen te zien voordat het te laat is…
De “C-paspoorten” dus, waarom zijn deze nou zo’n ramp? Omdat je hiermee aangesloten bent op een tech-platform (ik ben 15 jaar lang een IT-ondernemer geweest dus ik weet waar ik het over heb) waarmee elke beweging die je maakt, elke handelingen die je verricht en elk woord wat je uitspreekt kan worden gemonitord. Je denkt nu misschien dat het om een groen vinkje gaat wat jou toegang geeft tot alles wat je hartje begeert. De realiteit is dat je nooit meer afkomt van die prikjes, omdat er telkens weer nieuwe varianten opduiken en anders is zelfs de aangewakkerde angst ervoor al genoeg. Kortom, je hebt geen zeggenschap meer over wat en hoe vaak er iets in jouw lichaam wordt gespoten. Een keertje overslaan is geen optie, want dan staat ook jouw stoplicht op rood. Dat is het eerste punt dat je goed moet realiseren; je lichamelijke integriteit en vrijheid is verleden tijd. En je lichaam zal veranderen, daar kun je vergif op innemen…
Het tweede punt is dat zodra je eenmaal aangesloten bent op dit nieuwe platform er allerlei diensten aan gekoppeld zullen worden, en veel sneller dan je nu kunt bevroeden. Wat denk je van het gebruik van creditcards, het afsluiten van hypotheken, levensverzekeringen, zorgverzekeringen, toegang tot het ziekenhuis, de school, ja zelfs je eigen bankrekening? Moet ik nog even doorgaan? De toegang tot de supermarkt en zelfs je eigen huis? Ja, huizen worden ook steeds ‘slimmer’ (alles wordt ‘smart’) , hetgeen betekent dat je de voordeur niet meer uitkomt als het vinkje niet groen is. Geen home run maar een home lockdown dus. Kun je in ieder geval lekker je handen stuk wassen en naar de TV blijven kijken…
Ik weet dat sommigen me nu weer als een of andere gek zullen afschilderen. Het zij zo. Alleen het feit dat ik bijna een jaar geleden al voorspelde dat we hierin verzeild zouden raken (heb er zelfs een heel boek over geschreven), zou me toch wat meer geloofwaardigheid moeten geven dan de rekenmodellen van het RIVM. En bovendien, welk eigenbelang heb ik om deze schreeuw uit mijn hart nogmaals te laten horen? Krijg ik er betaald voor? Maak ik me er populair mee? Dacht het niet, dus misschien is het toch eens goed als je er nu echt eens even serieus over gaat nadenken. Stel dat ik gelijk heb, zou je jezelf het dan niet voor altijd kwalijk nemen dat door niets te doen onze kinderen en kleinkinderen opgroeien in een wereld vreselijker dan we ons ooit zouden kunnen voorstellen? Ik wel…
We hebben nog een paar weken voordat die paspoorten overal in de wereld opduiken. Israel was de eerste, maar de rest gaat nu heel snel volgen. En als we niets doen, als we niet massaal in opstand komen en stoppen met gehoorzamen, zitten we dadelijk vast in een wereld waar niemand nog een baan heeft zonder prikkie, niemand nog bij je op bezoek komt, en niemand nog een toekomst heeft zonder zich te onderwerpen aan het systeem. Big Brother bepaalt wat jij wel en niet mag, middels een pasje waar al je rechten en verplichtingen aan zijn gekoppeld. Eerst nog via je smartphone, doch later zitten alle vereiste codes in je lijf. Dit is geen doemscenario, geen paniekzaaierij, maar de realiteit van de dag van morgen als we niets doen.
Iedereen wiens vrijheid hem of haar nog lief is, moet nu opstaan en zijn stem laten horen. Wegkijken heeft geen zin. Wegdromen lost niets op. Hopen dat het beter wordt is een illusie als het niet gekoppeld wordt aan daden. Ik schreeuw daarom vanuit mijn hart. “Mens, sta op!!” Die paspoorten mogen er niet komen. Dan vallen we met zijn allen in de afgrond. Met en zonder prik. We kunnen het nu nog voorkomen. Wachten kan niet meer, want dan is het te laat. Zitten we in een heel ander speelveld waar de regels zijn dichtgetimmerd door hen die dit donkere scenario hebben bedacht. Zij die de macht in handen hebben en aan de knoppen draaien van de technologie. Big Tech, Big Pharma, Big Media en Big Money, zij allen werken samen. Dat is het ware complot. En het wordt uitgestrooid over ons allemaal, of je het nu wilt zien of niet. Dus laten we stoppen met nog langer tegenover elkaar te staan, en de handen in elkaar slaan en zeggen “No More”. Het is genoeg. We gaan terug naar de vrijheid. De echte vrijheid. Wij kunnen het tij nog keren, maar het moet nu gebeuren. NU…
Oh, en voor diegenen die vinden dat ik te veel aan het drammen ben en dat ik alles beter in vertrouwen kan overgeven. Nou, ik ben nogal een doener, een pragmaticus, een realist ook. Daarom probeer ik nu zoveel mogelijk mensen te bereiken en hen de ernst van de situatie te laten inzien. Want als we het echt in grote getale gaan zien, dan ben ik ervan overtuigd dat we in het huidige speelveld het spel nog in ons voordeel kunnen doen keren. Lukt dat niet, dan zullen we ons verlies moeten nemen en accepteren dat het Game Over is. Betekent niet dat het einde van de mensheid is aangebroken, alleen wel de begrafenis van een samenleving gebaseerd op vrijheid, gelijkwaardigheid, en democratie. Dan zullen we opnieuw moeten bekijken of we een nieuw speelveld kunnen creëren waarin we weliswaar met minder spelers zijn maar wel in volle vrijheid, vrede en vreugde met elkaar kunnen leven. The Tyranny of the "Enlightened" Experts
If you were to stroll through any typical upper-middle-income American neighborhood in 2021, the odds are very high that you’d observe at least one yard sign exuberantly proclaiming something like this: “In this house, we believe that science is real, love is love, no human is illegal … ” and other banal tautologies. There are usually six or seven examples in this litany, but really, one of the main goals of the yard sign—aside from signaling virtue—can be accomplished with just this: the curtsy to Science.
In a country where the traditional definition of virtue has “evolved” and the search for metaphysical truth has largely been sidelined, millions of Americans seem to believe that there is no higher truth than the Science and that there are no more virtuous citizens than those who deferentially submit to the experts, the societal planners, and the proclaimers of the Science. We can thank the Enlightenment for this spirit of scientism, as Science has now been fully separated from teleology (i.e., “goal directedness”) and final causality, which many elites consider to be backward Medieval thinking.
This separation—and the general idea that human beings and their interactions can be boiled down to and predicted by physical phenomena and scientific methods—has led to numerous destructive movements such as scientific socialism, historical materialism, and even progressive racialism. While Science has indeed provided wonderful breakthroughs that enhanced human flourishing, it does not engender all knowledge that is necessary for human societies.
As John Gray has documented in Seven Types of Atheism, several of the leading Enlightenment figures—including David Hume, Immanuel Kant, and Voltaire—infused some of their writings with a pseudoanthropological racism. This is particularly evident in Kant’s Observations on the Feeling of the Beautiful and Sublime and Hume’s notes accompanying his “National Characters” essay. Gray states that: “Though twenty-first century missionaries for ‘Enlightenment values’ resist the fact, modern racism emerged from the work of Enlightenment philosophes.”
Out of the Enlightenment’s penumbra of positivism, proponents of eugenics and scientific racism achieved some prominence in the late 1800’s and the Progressive Era of the early 1900’s. Eugenics notoriously sought to use Science to “purify” the human race through selective breeding practices and even forced sterilization. Francis Galton, a cousin of Charles Darwin, coined the term “eugenics” and began to apply Darwin’s work in evolution to human societies. Margaret Sanger, the well-known founder of the American Birth Control League and the first president of the International Planned Parenthood Federation, infamously—and with a disturbing enthusiasm—worked to reduce the birth rate in African American communities as part of the “Negro Project.” Sanger also advocated for the sterilization of disabled people.
None of this is meant to imply that all Enlightenment thinkers were racists (they weren’t), or that all progressives support eugenics (they don’t). Going beyond merely calling attention to the dark underbelly of one of the West’s sacred cows, though, it’s a relatively safe assertion that the Enlightenment’s intellectual offspring—including technocrats, government science advisors, and the elite expert class of academics and commentators—have been responsible for disastrous public policy measures over the past several decades.
Thankfully, not all of their recommendations and prognostications have come to fruition. Paul Ehrlich (a professor of biology at Stanford, fellow at the National Academy of Sciences, and evangelist for population control measures) outlandishly predicted a number of neo-Malthusian horrors, including the mass starvation of hundreds of millions of humans, increases in global poverty, and an exploding world population in the 1970s and 1980s. The spread of free market ideas, advances in medicine, and other latent factors have ensured that his “Population Bomb” never went off, but impacts of his work still haunt us, in the modern Green and Build Back Better movements.
Harmful, impractical, and costly ideas of the expert class, as well as the experts themselves, often infiltrate the government’s regulatory machine, at which time they are inflicted upon the general populace. Murray Rothbard discussed this in Power and Market:
Furthermore, the government itself contains mechanisms that lead to poor choices of experts and officials. For one thing, the politician and the government expert receive their revenues, not from service voluntarily purchased on the market, but from a compulsory levy on the populace. These officials, therefore, wholly lack the pecuniary incentive to care about serving the public properly and competently. And, what is more, the vital criterion of “fitness” is very different in the government and on the market. In the market, the fittest are those most able to serve the consumers; in government, the fittest are those most adept at wielding coercion and/or those most adroit at making demagogic appeals to the voting public.
Despite all of their misaligned incentives, which often lead to detrimental outcomes for individuals and small communities, the technocratic expert class is still intimately involved in practically every aspect of our lives. Nothing in recent times illustrates this more poignantly than the arrival of SARS-CoV-2.
In early 2020, Americans were besieged by a tidal wave of sloppy, reckless, and malevolently pessimistic news stories and information about the burgeoning coronavirus pandemic. Medical scientists and bureaucrats at the World Health Organization overestimated covid’s mortality rate at an alarming 3–4 percent. (The infection fatality rate is now estimated at ~0.15 percent.) Public health officials took the worst-case-scenario fatality estimates of epidemiological modelers such as the now disgraced Neil Ferguson at Imperial College London, promulgated them throughout the corporate media, and began implementing draconian measures that would radically alter civil society.
In the first months of the pandemic, the government monopolized and bungled the distribution of covid tests and the Food and Drug Administration delayed approvals for new test alternatives. Then US surgeon general Jerome Adams and Dr. Anthony Fauci admonished the public that they should not be wearing masks in public, before completely reversing themselves months later. Fauci would go on to mislead Americans about threshold numbers for herd immunity, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention would end up changing the scientifically conjured social distance spacing from precisely six feet to precisely three feet, coinciding with growing political pressure to reopen schools. In March of 2020, the federal government and most states coordinated a de facto national lockdown of the economy.
Millions of people were ordered to “stay home, stay safe” for the disastrous two-week “flatten the curve” crusade that would last for more than a year in some states. Government scientists and public health experts decided that the livelihoods of tens of millions were expendable, and the educational and social needs of a generation of young Americans could be sacrificed for the common good. Thousands of cancer screenings and other medical tests were postponed for several months, under the Lockdown regime. Many small businesses and restaurants will never open again. The pain caused by government experts will be felt for many years.
Of course, scientists qua scientists were never supposed to run our society. Scientific technocrats and the expert class cannot possibly possess all of the knowledge that they would need to effectively run the lives of 330 million Americans, but that will not stop them from trying. They might be Enlightened, but perhaps there is still an incorrigible, ornery remnant in the United States who will resist efforts to be managed, regulated, and perfected by the experts.

Peter Orzechowski, auteur van het boek: “Door globale chaos in de Nieuwe Wereldorde”, schrijft: “De wereldwijde recessie veroorzaakt door de coronalockdown, de klimaathysterie en de destabilisatie van de veiligheidssituatie door georganiseerde antiracismeprotesten vormen de ideale voedingsbodem voor de verwezenlijking van dit duivelse plan.” Dit maakt duidelijk hoezeer globale strategen ons gedrag sturen en hoe de coronapandemie voor hen slechts een middel is om een doel te bereiken. [Stem 1]: Maar wat te doen in een wereld, die door aangewakkerde chaos moet overgaan in een nieuwe, kwade vorm van bestuur? Daarvoor kan men zich het beste verbinden met gelijkgestemde idealisten, die ook waarde hechten aan vrede, geweldloosheid, en het totaal belang boven het ellebogenego. Door zo veel mogelijk het goede voorbeeld te geven en mensen correct in te lichten, zal de groep van bewuste mensen groeien en creëren we samen het betere alternatief voor de NWO-ellebogenagenda.
