stan, Twenty years ago, The Washington Post cost 25 cents, or about 40 cents in today's money, adjusted for inflation.  Today that same newspaper costs $3—a 750% increase. It’s the same pattern across the newspaper industry. Digital subscriptions are cheaper, but those prices are also rising, with less and less information available without hitting a paywall. So what happens to a democracy when large population segments can’t afford reliable news and information? What happens when millions rely on social media, where right-wing conspiracy theories spread like wildfire?
