Reliable News

stan,

Twenty years ago, The Washington Post cost 25 cents, or about 40 cents in today's money, adjusted for inflation.

Today that same newspaper costs $3—a 750% increase.

It’s the same pattern across the newspaper industry. Digital subscriptions are cheaper, but those prices are also rising, with less and less information available without hitting a paywall.

So what happens to a democracy when large population segments can’t afford reliable news and information? What happens when millions rely on social media, where right-wing conspiracy theories spread like wildfire?

Common Dreams is one of the few remaining comprehensive daily news sources that’s completely free to all readers. But if we fall short of our fundraising goals, we won’t be around much longer.

We’re running out of time, and we simply won’t survive without support from our readers. Please support our independent journalism before it’s too late.
With solidarity and gratitude,

Kimberly Monaghan
Board Chair

on behalf of the entire Common Dreams team
