INTERNATIONAL JOURNALISM PRIZE AWARDED BY MEXICO TO JOHN PILGER FOR JULIAN ASSANGE INTERVIEW

John Pilger has been awarded the International Journalism Prize by the Press Club of Mexico in the XLIV National and International Competition of Journalism, founded in 1951 by Antonio Saenz de Miera.

The citation reads, “The exclusive interview with WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, through which international public opinion was able to ascertain the extent of the key issues of the current political situation [is] journalism that allows people to defend themselves against powerful, clandestine forces.”
