World leaders in Egypt want to ensure ceasefire implemented properly
The reason so many countries are in Egypt is to make sure this isn’t a “one and done” – that Donald Trump announces a ceasefire and then washes his hands and walks away.
There is going to be a lot of hard graft in delivering a peace process that delivers on all 20 points. There will be obstacles along the way. There will be further negotiations because nothing in peace processes tends to move that smoothly.
The countries want to celebrate what has happened, to mark the end of the war on Gaza. But they also want to make sure there’s a plan, that they know where they’re going from here.
At the conference in Egypt, the second part of this ceasefire — the implementation — is already being considered.
In the United States, how is this being viewed? Well, largely it is being viewed in a very positive light. Perhaps the most positive light Trump has had from all sides since he went back into the Oval Office in January.
